Department of Agriculture is now in operation in part of western Box Elder County which has been designated as a disaster area because of drought. for assistance Applications under the program are to be passed on by the county committees of the Farmers Home to determine Administration eligibility and quanity of surplus grain a farmer may according to A. E. Buchanan of the Box Elder U.S.D.A. Drought Committee. Freeman J. ByingtonFlk County Supervisor, said that applications may be filed at the county offices of the Farmers Home Administration, the Agri cultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee, and the Agricultural Agent of the Extension Service. . Farmers and ranchers who normally run livestock, either dairy or beef cattle or sheep in the designated area, whc need assistance to obtain additional feed grains to maintain their basic foundation herd are eligible to participate, Mr. Byington explained. The area includes that part of Box Elder County west of Great Salt Lake and west of a line running from north end of Great Salt Lake to Hardup and thence west bordering the Mini, doka National Forest through to Nevada line. A. E. Buchanan, member of the ASC County Committee, advised that purchase orders will be issued by the ASC County Committee on the basis of applications approved by the Farmers Home Administration and may be used by farmers in purchasing designated surplus feed grains. The designated grains are barley, corn, oats and grain sorghums.
