We also found that until the first of July we didn't have house flies showing up, much to Mr. Gentry's amaze- ment. He told me that when the house flies did start we would have very many of them because of the lack of good sanitation; He called my attention to many corralls full of manuure, all the garbage dumps so poorly managed, so much trash and litter along the roads and on the picnic areas. So many back yards neglected. True to Mr. Gentry's prediction, when the houseflies started they really reproduced. Some areas that had been treat ed seemed to have as many as those untreated. We found pig pens hatching more than we could kill. Another problem presented itself when we discovered that on warm nights the flies were roosting outside in the shrubery and in the weeds instead of entering buildings that had been treated. When cool nights came the flies were forced in these buildings and simple vanished. Because of this situation we were told the flies were immune to insecticides but so far none have shown up with any noticeable immunity. This year, because of the increase in cost of the insecticide, we were forced to collect a small part of the cost. Fifteen cents per gallon was collected. We figured forty cents per gallon was the actual price applied on an average over the district. This price charge discouraged many from spraying and in most cases they were the ones who needed the spray the most. The year before when no extra charge was made we treated 5,176 parcels of improved property in the District. This year only some 3,126 parcels were treated out of a possihle 5.230 in the District. I believe this reflects the wishes of the public along with many people who volunteered the information that "If my neighbor doesn't spray, my Highway, Ripe Segments No. 303 can 00 Vi Tiff I IE Si", A Fir BE DCMIM3 16 rolls Toilet Tissue Ute, Tender, Cut 9 cans Green.
