Show Commercial Meet Trtmonion, Utah George Henunert Selected for OCS Bear River high school commercial students garnered a just share of honors last Friday at the Region One Commercial meet staged in Logan. In shorthand I, a three-gir- l tpam romnosed of Lennis Chris- tensen, Rowane Zundel and Lila Kemp placed second. Of this trio Miss Christensen gained a sec-- j ond place individual award. In type I, Mary Castleton, Holly Olsen and Jeniel Ewer, comprising a team trio, finishedLo-a close second behind a strong gan team. Mary Castleton gained third in individual honors George Hemmert, is one of five enlisted air men of the Naval air station at Whidbey, Washington, to be selected for a permanent ensign commission in the Navy Supply Corps. Hemmert will report at Officers Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island on May 12, for a 6 week course, the completion t f which will bring his commission. Application for the training was made last October, and the test taken with 330 others across the nation. Forty eight were recommended by the service-widboard for the commission. THE LEADER. DRESSES e Famous Magician To Appear Tonight Tremonton Jaycees urge all citizens to join in the safety project, now being sponsored by the local jaycees, and other similar organizations all over the United States. Jaycees report that more than 50 cars have been taped with the reflecting tape, but urge more people to participate in this program, to make night driving safer. All proceeds from this endeavor will be turned back to the public in various projects. Scotchlite can be obtained from the John Laws Service and Ray Newmans Service, both Vz mile west of Tremonton, and who will apply the tape for each customer who comes in. Saturday is being set as the day to clean up the program as near as possible, the Jaycees say, and urge everyone s support, in making this safety program a big and worthwhile one. Lite-A-Bump- er Local fans will be in for a big treat, tonight at 8:00 p. m.. at the McKinley school in Tremonton, when Boy Scout Troop 126 presents Hullinger, the biggest name in magic. Hullinger, who specializes in the disappearing feat, has approximately $12,000 worth of apparatus, plus a three ton truck which is necessary to haul it all. Mr. Hullinger does not only excel in the act of magic, but is in the a top performer field, and will perform in both, professions tonight. Bigler of Collinston have received word that their son, Gordon, has been promoted to the rank of Captain. He has been at McChord Air field in Tacoma, Washington for the past two years, since being recalled to the service. His wife, the former Bonnie Rae Gardner and two sons are with him in Washington. Gordon is also advancing in his musical talents. May II GIRLS COATS The Boston Symphony orchestra, making its first tour, will peform at the Salt Lake Tabernacle, on Monday, May 11, and music fans and followers from all parts of the intermountain area already are making plans to attend. The concert wil be sponsored by the Utah Symphony Association, and tickets wil be available at the Utah Symphony office, 55 West First South, in Salt Lake City. Charles Munch will conduct the orchestra at the Salt Lake concert. The colorful Munch has been conductor and director of the Boston Symphony since 1948 when he succeeded Serge The brilliant conductor still makes regular trips to conduct in France, Italy, Belgium and Holland. For the Salt Lake concert, the program will feature the Beethoven Seventh Symphony, according to David S. Romney, managing director of the Utah orchestra.
