Those colors which are light and cool recede when placed on the walls and make them appear somewhat larger. Bear this in mind If you have small rooms. Warm colors, those with some red or red tone such as orange In them make rooms appear somewhat smaller. Think what can be rooms simply done with barn-lik- e by using the proper shade of red. Large rooms can also take d wallpaper to make them shrink in size. If you want to change or hide Improper proportions, then you might use pattern, such as an interesting wallpaper, on the wall which has poor proportion. Should you like the dark colors, as is fashionable now and have small rooms, consider having just a single wall in the dark color.' A single green or blue wall, rather dark in tone, does not do much to shrink the size of a small room. The choice of floor covering requires thoughtful consideration because here is something of real permanence, not to be changed as easily as paint or paper on the walls. Floors should be good looking but they should remain in the background rather than come right out at you. They may be textured to be more interesting or to add a luxurious note to the room, but even so the color is best grayed or neutral to balance the room. You might prefer highly polished floors with some throw or scatter rugs if you have a traditional room, or even a modern one. Rooms which take a great deal of wear will probably be best if they're tiled or covered with asphalt tile or inlaid linoleum. Cotton and rayon are among the newest additions to the smart floor coverings available. Patterns which seem reminiscent of the Victorian era are seen frequently and rugs of this type can frequently be used to establish the eelor scheme of room. in large-patterne- T3 Family Party Th family of Mrs. Piuie M.
