On March 19 and 20, fourteen students from Beaver High School competed in the 2A Forensics State Championship held at Dixie College. Over twenty schools from all over the state competed. Three BHS students are now state champions. This is a real accomplishment considering there are only six state events; therefore, Beaver took first place in half of the events. No other school had more than one state champion. Sadie Waters took first place in Spontaneous Argumentation (SPAR), and Matt Burnette took first place in National Extemporaneous Speaking. Sadie Waters and Elizabeth Kanell, best friends, had to compete against each other in Oratory finals. Both of these girls advanced to finals with three first places. In Original Oratory finals Sadie took first and Elizabeth second. Thus Sadie took first in two events. Elroy Louis placed fifth in Impromptu Speaking, and Jeremiah demons and Steve Roberts made the final Bloodbath round in Legislative Forum. Every student on the team performed well. ' She would like to invite all State Champion News About Town Mr. 90th Birthday al JUNIOR DIVISION Kimball Joseph, Skyler Famsworth and Ben Roberts - On Sunday, my daughter Connie from Cedar City and three of her grandsons, they are my great grandsons, came over to visit me. She takes turns with the boys and the girls. One of the three boys, Jake, stayed at the house and played with my little dog and visited with us: Stenson, 9 years old,' and McLain, 8 years old, went over to the park to swing. In a short while they came back and wanted two garbage bags. We asked them what they wanted them for and they said to pick up trash. Connie told them as soon as they were done to come into the house and wash their hands. We thought they were going to pick up trash off my lawn. When we looked out to see how they were doing, they were clear across the street over to the ballpark fence. One was one one side and one on the other side of the west fence. Two little guys from Cedar got their garbage bags full. We were surprised to think that they had that kind of ambition and foresight to do something nice for someone. It looked very nice. There was a great big pasteboard box and they said they didn't know what to do with it so they took it down and left it in a corner of the fence by the batters box. Well, I guess that was as good a place as any. Maybe someone will fill it up. Anyway it is still there. Editors's note: Thanks to those two little guys for a good deed done for a town they donl even live in. You're great!!
