This year we will be honored to have Arthur T. Challis, Southern Utah University's Instructor of Communications serve as Master of Ceremonies for the Awards Program at 7:00 p.m. Prior to the Awards program beginning at 5: 00 p.m., a banquet will be held to honor the Southwest Utah Sterling Scholar The Master of Finalists and their parents andor guardians. Ceremonies for the banquet will be Van Bushnell, Assistant Provost for VocationalTechnical Education at Southern Utah University. Fred C. Adams, Founder & Executive Producer of the Utah Shakespearean Festival will be the guest speaker at the banquet. Students selected as finalists involved in final competition are from the following high schools: Beaver, Cedar City, Dixie, Valley, Enterprise, Hurricane, Kanab, Milford, Panguitch, Escalante, Bryce Valley, Parowan, Snow Canyon, and Pine View. The fourteen categories of the competition include the following: English, SpeechDrama, Mathematics, Social Science, Science, Foreign Language, Applied Technology, Agriculture Science, Family, Consumer and Health Sciences, Business and Marketing, Music, Visual Arts, Dance, and General Scholarship. Each of the 147 finalists will be judged on personal achievements and awards compiled in their portfolios and interviews with the judges.
