Show The Beaver Press - April 6, 1995 - Page 4 Hurricane Easter Car Show colorful display of 350 strpet rods, classic, antique and custom cars and trucks, set against the red rocks and green mesas of Hurricane, Valley, will make Hurricane, Utah the place to be for over 8,000 car enthusiasts, on Saturday, April 15, 1995. 2 The 10th Anniversary of the "Hurricane Easter Car Show" is where spectators of all ages can enjoy the artistry and skills that go into building and.restoring these vehicles, and talk to the owners, eager to share their knowledge. Nostalgia lovers will appreciate the antique and classic cars, which evoke memories of days past. Custom cars, street rods and mini trucks with wild paint jobs, and chopped and lowered bodies, will be enjoyed by anyone who delights in attention to color, design, detail and cleanliness. Participants compete in 50 classes, with first, second, and third place trophies awarded in each class. $1,000 prize money will be divided between the two winners of the "People's Choice" and "Rodder's Choice", which are determined by spectators' and participants' votes. The show is sponsored by Ben Franklin, Lin's Chums, Thriftway, and Wizards Auto Specialties, all of Hurricane, and your local Napa Dealers, Champion Spark Plugs and your local Valvoline Oil dealer, A Centrally located in southern Utah, the Easter show attracts a unique blend of people, and cars from nine states. Forty car clubs were represented-;,, last year, but the show is open to all cars, and not limited to1 f club memebers Utah car clubs attending this year are the Corvette club, Cache Valley Cruisin' Association, Wasatch Rod and Custom, Utah Street Club, Moab Rod Rods, Utah Benders, Mopar am', Saturday, April 1 5th. An admission fee will be charged for spectators, with half price rates for senior citizens and students. Discount coupon to the Drag Races will be available for all paid spectators. Association, ff 'J ' Southwest Street Rods and Froot Loops. Nevada clubs planning to attend are Charioteers, Classic Bow Ties, Yard Doggz, Golden and Las Memories, Vegas model A's. Donut Derelicts, Late Great Chevys, Inland Roadsters, over the Hill Gang, and Cruzin Rebels, all from California, all have members for this year's show. Clubs from Idaho, Wyoming and Colorado will also be represented. There will be something for everyone - music, food, displays, and row after row of gleaming, detailed cars and trucks. A "Gasoline Alley" will feature all types of race cars, which will, be busy preparing for the drag races, which will be held later in the evening, Saturday April 15th, at St. George Raceway Park. The events weekend include early registration, Friday, April 14th at Lynsie's Cafe in Hurricane, the Car Show Saturday April 15th, and Drag Races Saturday evening. The Zion Park Rod Run, organized by the Southern Utah Canyon Cruisers, will leave Hurricane on Easter Sunday, April 16th. The Rod Run is not a competition event, but a scenic drive through Hurricane Valley and Zion National Park. The day will feature a "poker run", with check points throughout the morning. The winner of the run will receive a rebuilt transmission from Ray's Auto Service Center, LaVerkin, Utah.
