Show THE BEAVER PRESS- - September 9, 1995-PA- 2 GE "Just Looking Back" The Beaver Press By Mildred Yardley The little pink rock church in Greenville is now deserted, but I can still hear the echo of children's voices as I drive by. The old artesian will still flows freely after a hundred years! If it could talk what tales would be told of all the social gatherings, receptions, and dances that were held in that building! The families that have walked through the doors were many. The Blackners, the Williams, the Kesters, the Hortons, the Edwards, the Fordhams, the Morris's, the Atkins, and the Bartons and probably many others. Everyone took pride in that little church, especially Bessie Edwards who was always the "backbone" of the community. People would sometimes bring their small children and put them to sleep on the benches. The music would always lull them to sleep. I can just see Mrs. Emma Williams, Helen Christiansen's grandmother and her neighbor Mrs. Atkin who was Bob and David Calvert's grandmother getting out on the dance floor and dancing together. They were great friends and loved to have a good time! Many beautiful singers came out of Greenville like James and Clifford Williams and King Morris and Ralph Fordham, who were some of the best! I guess nostalgia is something we all seem to have down through the years when we look back and remember that era when everyone joined in for a good time in the little Greenville church "just a mile or so down the road!" Assertive Listening Saying No Conflict Resolution Some of the music for the dances came from Beaver like Hal Lund, Gilbert Gale, Margery Mackerell, Kate For additional information call 438-523- HOT TIP on a breaking news story, upcoming event or interesting personality?? C O P F A X I E S BHS Drama Starts Out in Overdrive TRADING POST By Kenneth Chalberg A Fiddler, a Hillbilly, and a Monarch. What do they have in common and what are they doing in Beaver? Well, let me tell you, they are all characters in three separate plays being put on by the BeaverJDrama Department. This grand undertaking does stretch some of Beavers actors to the limits, some being in two or even all three plays. Veteran Directors David Hinck and Rob Hibbard begin their astounding season off with "Fiddler on the Roof. Rehearsals have already begun with their large cast. Hopefully Beaver's Drama Department hasn't bitten off more than they can chew, but with their choices in directors and actors I don't think they have done so. Best of luck to you thespians.
