Melinda Roberts, chairman for the project, and members of the FHA Chapter organized the repapering of one wall in room 20 at the hospital and the tying of two quilts to be used by patients in this room. The Teen Council joined in the effort in selecting fabrics and tying of the quilts. Several members of both organizations took time out of Spring vacation to hang the wallpaper. The wallpaper and the quilts add a gentle "hominess" to the room. It was fun and educational for all involved in both the FHA and the Teen Council. AND In an effort to make someone's 4-- Ckflt Out Manderfield Letter to The Editor By News there that many ignorant Beaver residents? Or are many of you totally uncaring about your children? I am shocked and angry at the number of parents in this area that allow their children playground freedom in their cars! Do you not know that all it takes is slamming on your brakes at 10 miles an hour to avoid a dog or ball in the street or the other car pulling out, to put your child through the window at a rate of speed your arms would never be able to stop. I guess you feel the law does not apply to you. And the woman I saw driving down the street with her toddler on her lap! Your child would be crushed in the steering wheel if you were hit and how can you possibly have control of your car at every moment with a wiggly child in your lap. You are not only risking your lives but others on the road. That is selfish. Maybe you're only running to the store. What could possibly happen? Tragedy, that's what - and I have personally seen it happen when I witnessed an accident. Are so many of you really willing to risk it? As the mother of a nine month old, I know it is hard to keep her restrained when she's crying and wants some loving, but 1 know 1 am showing her much more love by soothing her while in her seat until we are safely stopped. The rule in our house is if the car is moving, she is in her seat! Period! Car seats are expensive, especially in families who need two or three. But they are not expensive compared to your child's funeral and the guilt you would carry. And ev" more - you are going one step further in protecting your family by buckling up yourself. You can keep better control of your car v.i.11 you are not being tossed around! If you see it all as an inconvenience, I pity you and feel sorry for your children. You parents and grandparents who do this arc very foolish. I hope it doesn't tale one or more tragedies to wake this town up! You should all have your licenses taken away til you have proof of purchase and properly installed car seats. I hope and pray you see a Beaver Police or Sheriff's officer because he has stopped to warn or fine you according to Utah's carseat law and not to take a report on the accident that maimed or killed your child! PLEASE open your eyes, folks!
