Elder Greg Rodgers of Fairbanks Alaska, has begun a stay in Beaver after spending the first part of his mission time in West Jordan and American Forks, Utah. He has been in Beaver five weeks. He replaces Elder Poe and will be working with Elder Benton in the Beaver and Garfield County areas. Elder Rodgers' father and mother and his three younger brothers live in Fairbanks where they are active in the Fairbanks, Alaska Stake. They've been in Alaska about 13 years. Their residence previously was Casa Grande, Arizona. Elder Rodgers likes our small town, the lack of traffic and the friendliness of the people. Interment was in Greenville Cemetery. Funeral directors were Canyon Mortuary, Salt Lake City. Beloved mother, Jeanette Caroline Calvert Fordham, 84, passed away Nov. 25, 1983 in a Milford hospital. Born August 29, 1899, Greenville, Utah to William H. and Laura Jane Calvert. Married George Albert Fordham Sept. 6, 1917. Her husband passed away April 2, 1962. Active member of the LDS Church. Enjoyed her involvement in the Relief Society. Interchange Beaver 438-539- 2 M Drunk Driving Awareness Week Teen Council Beaver County under the direction of the sponsoring agency, The Beaver County Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council, once again invites the children and young people of Beaver County to participate in the "Drunk and Drugged Driving Awareness" week competition. Once again competition for children and young people in three age groups will be rewarded with cash prizes and recognition. Children in kindergarten through third grade may enter the contest by coloring the picture in this week's Beaver Press. Color the picture you find in your paper, put your school grade level on the front of your picture. Put your name, address and phone number on the back of your picture. People in grades four through six may make a poster using the "Prevent Drunk Driving" theme. Posters may be no larger than 12 inches by 14 inches and must be on paper of at least construction paper quality. Students in grades seven through 12 may enter a bumper sticker using the same theme. Size of the bumper sticker entries should be four inches by 11 inches and typed or written in ink. Born September 10, 1892 in Parowan, Utah, to Thomas Henry and Phoebe Madora Brown Evans. Married Horace Patterson, November 6, 1911, in Parowan. Registrar in Beaver for over 40 years. Survivors: three children, Evan and Floran Patterson, both of Beaver, Donald Patterson, Cedar City; ten grandchildren; 25 greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Doris Barney, Salt Lake City, Mary Sorenson, Long Beach, California, preceded in death by two sons, Earl and Clark. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 2, 1983, 1:00 LDS p.m. at the Beaver 3rd-4tWard Chapel. Saturday, Dec. 3 All Smith Anthony William Smith, age 72, passed away November 23, 1983 at a local hospital of heart failure. He was born March 17, 1911, at Beaver, Utah to Schuyler Silas and Annie Maria Willden Smith. He married Maxine Erich August 9, 1947 at Portland, Oregon. Marriage was solemnized October 19, 1977 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Smith spent 23 years serving in the Navy and retired after 15 years with the federal government - GSA. He was a High Priest in the Bountiful 27th Ward. He was a member in a number of organizations and held important positions in some. Survivors include: his wife, Maxine, of Bountiful; a daughter, Mrs. Melvin G. (Toni Ann) Jewett, Bountiful; a grandson, Kenneth G. Jewett; an aunt, Ruth Willden of Beaver. Anthony came to live with his grandparents of Beaver, after the passing of his mother in 1920. Funeral services were held Saturday, November 26, 1983 in the LDS Ward Bountiful 10th-27t- h Chapel with interment in the Bountiful City Cemetery under the direction of Tusson Brothers Bountiful Mortuary. Susanne Pritchard Elmer Susanne Pritchard Elmer, 26, of Sandy, died November 26, 1983, in a Salt Lake City hospital. Born December 13, 1956, in Cedar City to Sam and Doris Sharpies Pritchard. Married Calvin Morris Elmer, August 5, 1977, in Milford. Employee of Mountain Bell Telephone Co. Had attended SUSC in Cedar City. Presently attending Westminister College. Survived by husband of Sandy; parents of Parowan; parents-in-laMr. and Mrs. Don Elmer, Milford; brother and sisters, Mike, Enock, Mrs. Evan (Patricia) Lister, Milford, Mrs. Douglas (Judy) Lister, Parowan.
