Word has been received that Verl A. Nelson has been advanced to the rank of Private First Class. Verl was inducted into the Army Air Corps and is now stationed in the Southwest Pacific area. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Asa Nelson, formerly of Thatcher, now living in Roosevelt. e. Staff Sgt. Bert YVheatley, of Borden's General Hospital, Oklahoma, with his wife and son, are visiting relatives and friends in Deweyville for a short Chick-ash- a, Elna Allen, of this city, received a letter from Sydney, Australia from Major H... V. Howe, who states that while he was travelling in Northern Australia he had met her son, Sgt recently Mr, and Mrs. J. A. Fryer, of Deweyville, have received word from their son, Wayne, of the U S. Navy, that he has been advanced to Chief Petty Officer. They al3o received word that their son Merlin, is now stationed in Norfolk, Va.
