Afternoon & evening shows were given. A report at Monday's Kiwanis meeting by Harold Ashman was incomplete but it's expected that the club will clear more than $100 for its community service activities. Grabel, whose show was sparked by Helene, his pert assistant, gave the audience a magical display of illusion that held them on the edges of their seats all the way. One trick left Helene .poking off into mid air at an angle of 45 degrees supported only by a broom stick. In addition to the usual pulling of multicolored handkerchiefs from tubes, the smoking of pipes or cigarettes which materialized out of either his sleeve or thin air, he highlighted the evening with an escape trick which baffled his assistants who had been selected from the audience. Among these were Marcell Graham, chief of police; Lawrence Brown, of the post office; & Dr H C Coon, dentist. They held a tent over a box In the box Helene had been tied in a bag. The box was then padlocked by the local boys & laced up in a canvass cover. They then suspended the tent over it. two Grabel counted "One & theji Helene poked her head out & said ". . . three."
