Many of the rumors have been fueled by the activity which has been present at the fish hatchery the past few weeks, so I thought it wise to explain what work the Division has been conducting at Beaver Fish Hatchery. For more than a year now, studies have been conducted by a private engineering firm to analyze the present water source for the hatchery and to determine its adequate-nes- s for fish production. In the past, the source of water, which is supplied by springs east of the fish hatchery, has diminished each winter and supplemental water has been supplied by a deep well at the hatchery. This is a fairly expensive source of water because of the high cost of pumping. The Division has thus been sinking some test holes near the present water source to determine whether a more adequate supply of water can be found. The activity that has been and will continue near the Beaver fish hatchery is thus part of a study to determine the adequacy of the water supply for the rebuilding effort which is to take place in the future. Housing Rehabilitation The Development Services Committee appropriated $500,000 to continue an already existing State program for housing rehabilitation. This program has enabled many eligible senior citizens to receive free household repairs, which has helped to keep their homes from becoming dilapidated. It has also generated much volunteer time and donation of materials. If you have questions about this program or would like it begun in your community, just call your local housing authority, your citycounty offices, or Shirl Clarke at the State Housing Development Agency in Salt Lake City at Utility Consumer Committee Supported Members of the Business, Labor and Agriculture Committee showed strong support for the Committee of Consumer Services when they appropriated $116,000 for the committee to continue its fine work representing . 533-405- Policeman. A If last Sunday's attendance new consolidated meeting schedule of the LDS Church is going to be a huge success. Most Wards reported over 50 percent attendance, and Beaver 2nd, with its 63 percent, almost ran out of chairs. It appears to be the dawn of a new era and it produced many "new looks." Seeing fathers attending priesthood meeting with babes in arms and fathers teaching and helping in primary classes was a sight especially to mothers. And, who knows but what there might be some dads helping in the nursery ere long. The greatest performance was put on by the very young. The babies, toddlers and young primary students endured the session with remarkable restraint. Oh sure, they got a bit restless during that last meeting, but really, don't they deserve a lot of credit? There were many new faces at Relief Society meetings because the working moms and gals who previously had evening sessions can not attend the Sunday program.
