Forester Regional v 1 r$ ZZzztL' Wt vr" Declaring that the loss of personal freedoms "is not by a blowout, but a slow leak," the board of directors of Utah's largest farm organization warned today that state and federal lack of it- -is government action--o- r leading to faster loss of American citizen's rights and freedoms. Meeting in Salt Lake City today, the Utah Farm Bureau Federation board, an a strong group of farmers-issu- ed statement, against the increasing number of government invasions of personal property rights and personal freedoms. "The failure of our state legislature to pass an effective trespass law in the session just endi;d is an example of the danger of inaction," the board declared. "For a state agency official to express concern that hunters might have to get the permission of a property owner to go on his land and shoot is an outlandish trespass itself on the rights of the man who has bought and paid for that land. "We wonder whether that official might be so casual about property rights if a family camped out on his front lawn without his permission," the Farm Bureau group added. The board's statement also blasted government seizure of private property for recreational purposes, when about 75 percent of Utah's land is already under "The ownership. government state of Urah has leveled its sights on Antelope Island," board members stated. "Apparently nothing can stop the state from condemning that valuable grazing land and adding it to a growing list of state parks for which there aren't enough funds now to develop properly." The recent legislature declined to apply to more essential uses the $3.2 million already for buying that appropriated island in the Great Salt Lake for a public recreation area. "Some "of our legislators are worried about not being able to give the next generation adequate recreaiion spots," the board declared, "when they ought to be worrying about giving the next generation enough freedoms to enjoy whatever else they have." Another example of the same freedom threat cited by the Farm Bureau board is the current move by the National Park Service to seize, through condemnation, prifor vate land owned-oft- en more recently established national park Wfthcirt advertising, you wouldn't know.
