' "Fishing should be great for the opening" is the report of Kay Bowler, Superintendent at the local hatchery. Minersville reservoir should be the top fishing spot of Utah. The lake was cleared of trash fish and then replanting of game fish began in April of 1968 when 200,000 fry were introduced weighing about 200 fish to rhe pound. The lake was gill netted in April of this year and these fish had grown and f weighed from 1 and to 2 and pounds each. That was a month ago so they should be averaging about 2 pounds by now. A recent planting-pu- t another 175,000 of the small ones in the lake to insure fish for the future. The stream below the lake has been planted continuously since the poison cleared out of the water and has been the scene of good fishing right along. More fish will be planted in the stream between the hatchery and the reservoir for the Saturday opening. It had been expected chat the mountain would be snowed in for the opening and the most recent word from the Department of Fish and game said no planting was contemplated for that area. A Sunday drive found the road open to two miles above Kents on the loop road and to Otrt-- lake on the highway and a word with Mr. Bowler finds that plantings are being done at Little Reservoir, Mirror Lake and Middle Kents Lake on the loop route. Three Creeks and Otter Lake, in the main canyon, will get catchables. Because of the high water no plantings are being made in the stream. Hatchery crews were unable to plant Indian Creek because of a wash-ou- t but a number of fish have been planted in the two ponds in the Indian Peaks area in the west end of the county for those who want to be alone for their fishing.. one-hal- Junior Golf Clinic Registrtation will be from June 1st to June 7th with a fee of $7.50.
