Leon Thompson, became the bride of Mr. Steven LaVar Atkin, son of Mr. and Mrs. La Var Atkin, January 19, 1968 in the George LDS Temple President Atkin performed the ceremony. The Bride's parents hosted a wedding dinner following the ceremony. A Reception that evening in the Minersville Ward honored the nwly-wedh The bride's gown of white brocade had sleeves, long and an empire styled waistline Her elbow-lengt- h veil was held by a teara of seed pearls She carried a red rose bouquet Becky Thompson was Maid of Honor and bridesmaids were Beverly Atkin, Gale Green, Elaine Baldwin, Kathy Truman, Carolyn Marshall, Peggy Davis, Joan Pryor and Bobby Bonner. They wore red brocade dresses with empire waistlines accented with white ribbons which tied in back and extended to the bottom of the skirt. They carried nosegays. Dian Murdock was the junior bridesmaid and carried a basket of red carnations and white pompoms. Wayne Atkin was Best Man and ushers were Mike Carter, Gordon Dean, Donald Harris, Richard Smith, Brent Baldwin Mark Thompson, Hal Gale w.nd Dean Bowden. Roger Atkin was junior usher. Both mothers chose ensembles, Mrs Thompe son a knit and Mrs. Atkin a brocade. Their corsages were red and white carnations. The wedding group stood before an arch decorated with carnations, gladiolas, mums, roses and white wedding bells Two standing baskets, contain ing similar flowers, stood on either side of the arch. The bride's paternal grand parents and her maternal grandmother, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Thompson and Mrs. Alta Kelsey were in the receiv ing line as was Mrs. Ettie Atkin, paternal grandmother of the groom.
