Maybe its the calm before the storm. You can bet things will be taking on a different look about ten days from now. I guess everyone is just getting things in shape for the big occasion. I, like most everyone else, always look forward to the races and their activities. It's the one time in the year when families and friends get together to compare happenings through the past year. It's really a time of fun and gaiety and a time for the gathering of the clans. Now, if only I were a philosopher, I could proceed with my column and philosophize or theorise on some subject and make you believe I had something interesting to tell you. But, since I'm not, maybe I had better stop right here and leave no doubt in your mind. Some days are like this. After putting my ear to the ground I did hear a few rumblings of activities in the old town. The Carl Ward home was a busy one with family members all over the place. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ward and two children of Ely, Mr. an'l Mrs. Seth Norris and two child ren and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Ward and two children, all of Salt Lake, enjoyed a family gathering over the past weekend at the family home. Eugene and his family will remain for a longer visit. Greenville The descendants of Philip Baker held their family reunion at Indian Creek Saturday, Bessie Edwards Speaker at Sacrament meeting Sunday was High Councilman Walter Joseph. Mrs. David Blackner and three children of Chalis, Idaho arrived to spend some time with the Arthur Blackners. David is a Forest Ranger at Chalis, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Blackner were in Salt Lake recently where Glen had the honor of blessing his Mr. and Mrs. Allen Dalton of Almo, Nevada came this week end to get their daughter. Sherie Ann, who has been visiting her grandparents, the Clyde Murdocks. Becky Murdock, who has been visiting in Alamo, came home. Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Edwards and family took Mrs. Nettie Fordham to Nephi on Sunday where they met Allen Ford-hawho took Mrs. Fordhom and Mary Anne Edwards to Salt Lake for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Blackett spent several days in Provo this past week. The Baker family organization includes the decendants of Philip and Harriet Thompson Baker. Several families arrived on Friday, July 8th, and camped overnight. The gathering was at noon on Saturday with each family providing their own din ner. After lunch the men chose up sides and an hour was spent throwing horse shoes. Raymond Baker called the meeting to order and after the business of the reunion was taken care of a delightful program was enjoyed with all the families in attendance being represented. Recent visitors were their daughter and son- Mr. and Mrs. Robert McCurdy and two children of San Francisco, and, last week, Mrs. Bennett's brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Cooper of Greeley, Colorado, were guests.
