With a bit more cleaning and straightening it will be a real credit to those who made the effort. Congratulations to the many (both young and older) who turned out despite the weather. That's true community spirit. During the past week I have heard several repercussions in regard to Dr. Bishop's letter so I got out the Press and read it again. Why don't you do the same? He was a bit extreme bat I felt the big majority of people had no reason to feel anything but glad that someone had the stamina to stick his neck out to try to get some of us mad enough to do something about cleaning up our town. I don't feel that Dr. Bishop was right when he intimated that our town was filthy and I'm sure he didn't mean it that way either. We have a beautiful little town and some beautiful homes " JOY That's how mothers describe their Long Distance visits with their children. Pure joy. Most of us have some thing in our yards that could .stand some improvement and it takes continuous work to keep it up. I say "more power to Dr. Bishop, Chloe and the folks who are ' willing to spend their time and effort in this certainly worthwhile project. We are past the age of old cow corrals, tumble down barns, rickety sheds, sagging fences, DOWN WITH THEM! Increase the value of your property. Maybe next year a new home can be standing there. If you have a delapidated old barn or shed or some dead trees that are an eyesore and the job is too big for you to do alone, now is the time to get some help. That's what this committee is organized for, as well as to encourage all of us to do our, best in our own yard. People say, "what was good enough for my grandpappy, ets." Well, what was good enough for my grandpappy isn't good enough for me. He must have or he been for progression wouldn't have worked so hard to improve what he had and I intend to continue to improve what I have. (I'm truly very glad that my neighbors feel the same way.) When everyone in town gets a feeling of prido from a clean, well-keyard and the street in front of their home is something more than weeds, then we won't need anyone to stick his neck out to jolt any of us out of our contented little rut. and Mrs. Dse Ritchie are so happy with the recovery of their small son, Paul.
