Have You Seen? By Mildred Yardley Once again many Beaver people have been raking and cleaning their lots for spring. There is hardley anyone who doesn't like to see a newly painted fence, the dead limbs trimmed from the apple trees, flowers blooming in the early spring along a garden walk. A few people I happened to see as I rode by were George Terry, who is an ardent gardener; Cecil Willden, who takes pride; - Glen Gillies always is at the top of the list; Frank Gentry, trimming trees; Jack Waters has added a new addition to his house. There are many more and I hope to keep adding to the list each week. Please call and let me know what you are doing. Mrs. Wanda White left recently for her home in California after visiting a few weeks with the Norman Bradshaw fam ily. Mrs. Maud Huntington is visiting in Salt Lake with her son Warren and family nnd getting medical attention for her eyes. Gene Barton had major surgery in the Valley View Medical Center and is recuperating at his home in Greenville. Carl Dean has been confined in the Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake the past two weeks. Last report was that he has left tha hospital and is feeling much better. Mrs. Cora Lindsay and Charles returned home Thursday after spending the winter in California with family members. , In answer to the letter in last week's Beaver Press; it sounded a little harsh. It makes u all a little chagrined to think this paper goes all over the world and tells the people that here in Beaver we live in filth, filth, filth. It might be said this time of year that we have but not litter, litter, litter filth. We here in Beaver are wondering what chance we have to have the tourist stop and see our fair city and the many beauty spots in our lovely canyons if they read that letter and believe it. We do have pride, at least to a point. Those who do try to keep their places up don't all live on main street but it sounds like we don't any of us try to keep up our yards, along with the many hundreds of things we have to do besides. After the green gets started later on, maybe if we'd take a ride around the town we would see that it isn't such a bad town to live in as we might think from that letter.r'f will admit that Beaver does take on a gray appearance when the leaves are off the trees. Unless the trees are evergreens. We have plenty in our mountains. I am sure if anyone wants to get any to replace the ones they have that permission would be granted if you would approach the forest officials. As I started to say, we who do have pride resent the world being told that we live in a pig one of sty. The eternal fight against dirt is a full time job, and we do try, along with everything else we do have to do. Those who do try have been hurt and those who don't try to keep up but their premises don't care we do. Please don't judge us wrong, world. Nintey per cent of us try. MRS.
