Asked For the other problems that were taken up by the ComAmong e Deputy For West End A petition and request was presented to the County Commission on Monday at their regular meeting, asking for con- e sideration in hiring a deputy sheriff for the west end of the county. A letter supportd ing the petition from the full-tim- Mil-for- City Council was also received and read. This problem was discussed by the Commission who seemed to feel that there is certainly merit in the request as any owner of property in any part of the county is entiteld to the protection afforded by the sheriffs office. There are, at present, two part-tim- e deputies in the county, one at Minersville and one at Milford and it was reported that the deputy at Milford is having to spend almost full-tim- e on duties of that office. The additional cost to the county to pay for full-tim- e work is $225 per month. No decision was reached by the Commission on this matter but it will surely come up again and should be decided before a mission was the question of the county jail in the basement of the court house. The main problem seems to be providing heat in the cold months. A letter from a Salt Lake firm of steam engineers was received which asked for over $200 to come and make a study of the heating system at the court house along with recommendations. It was felt that the price was too high without knowing in advance if the recommendations were going to suit the needs of the building and the funds at hand. Other firms are to be contacted to see about this work. State Road Commissioner Bill Smirl and State Road Engineer are to be in beaver on Wednesday afternoon to study the road problems of this area along with giving an explanation of the various types of interchanges allowed on the Interstate system. I certainly wish all of you could make a trip into the can-yons and see the beautiful autumn colors right now. I doubt if there is anything more breathtaking than the brilliant yellow quakies and red maples mixed in with the green pines against of the blue sky a on a bright sunny day. Makes you wish you were an artist. Isn't nature wonderful? A memorable occasion at the Ross Smith home the past week has been the visit of Vilda"s g sister, Mrs. O. A. (Jennie) of Kansas City, Missouri. Mrs. Moburg came to Salt Lake last week with a group of (5 and ninety-seve- n train car loads) of Singing Mothers from Missouri to perform in the LDS Relief Society Conference. After the group finished singing on Wednesday, Jennie came on to Beaver to meet her family whom she had not ssen for 47 years. The only family members she had ever met were Hal and Dan, sons of the Ross Smiths, when they attended the National FFA Convention in Kansas City when they were in High School. Mrs. Moburg lived in Old Mexico most of her life until she married and moved to Missouri. She hasn't been back to Utah since she was a tiny baby. On Saturday Vilda and Jennie visited their father, Mr. and Mrs. Sim Murdock and a sister, Mrs. Mac (Edith) Armstrong, in Cedar and they all enjoyed a trip to Cedar Canyon and Cedar Breaks. When they returned to Beaver that evening another sister, Mrs. Clinton (Donna) Boy-thad arrived from Roseburg, back-groun- County Commission Full-Tim- Colors wise. During the week they also visited Beaver Canyon, Television Hill and other sights. On Tuesday the family met at Beaver for a final before Jennie left for Missouri that night. Donna will visit relatives and friends in Utah for another week before she returns to Oregon.
