The Beaver participant made a fine showing and are to be congratulated. In "all livestock" judging, the Beaver team, made up of Bill Twitchell, Frank Kelsey and Richard Joseph, placed third. In individual high honors, Twitchell placed third and Kelsey fourth. In beef judging on individual points, Richard Joseph tied for first place and Melvin Walker second; Bill Twitchell tied for third and Fred Erickson tied for fourth. In sheep judging, Beaver's team placed third and Frank Kelsey was high score man (first) in sheep judging. Ned Harris took fourth place on an individual basis. In dairy judging, Bill Twitchell tied for first place honors with a perfect score, Beaver's team taking second in this event. In soils judging, the team was made up of. Sam Hutchings and Clair Baldwin and took second place honors. Douglas Baker was fourth high man on an individual basis and Sam Hutchings took fifth place. Douglas Baker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Baker, won a tuition scholarship to C.S.U. for being the top senior in soil judging. George R. Henderson, Extension Animal Husbandman from Utah State University at Logan, will judge beef cattle and horses at the Annual Beaver County Livestock Show, to be held at Minersville on Saturday, May 23. The judge for dairy cattle and sheep has not been named as yet. Stockmen are advised to get their animals in shape for the show early. Many valuable prizes and trophies will be awarded. The Beaver and Minersville units of the Cache Valley Breeding Assn. will award trophies to the champion artificially sired Holstein and Jersey. The Minersville Cattle Assn. will award a trophy to the champion beef bull; Milford Lions Club a trophy for champion hereford female; and Beaver Lions Club a trophy for the champion steer. Trophies to champion holstein and jersey cows will be awarded by Brooklawn Creamery and Minersville Feed and Supply. Lumber will award the champion lamb trophy. The Beaver County News will award the champion quarter horse trophy and a trophy also will be awarded to the champion thoroughbred entry. A special prize will be given to the champion stock horse. Other prizes will be awarded by various business houses in the county. Tri-Sta- te QUEEN CANDIDATES WANTED FOR M9ers F F A Has Open House for Parents Dave Morris, queen contest chairman for the American Legion 49er celebration, issued a call this week for candidates for 49er queen title. All Beaver County organizations were invited to nominate candidates for queen, and Mr. Morris advised that individuals also are urged to enter names of their favorites. Judging will be on beauty, poise, personality, and pulchritude. Names of entrants may be reported to Mr. Morris or left at the office of The Beaver County News. Last year's 49er queen was Kay-Le- e Fillmore of Beaver. An open house for all FFA boys and their parents was held Monday evening at the Beaver High School.
