The carrot crop in Iron County from 250 acres is very promising and they expect twice as many carlot shipments as last year when frost damaged the acreage in Escalante Valley. insects have not been serious al though all parts of the state report some hopper and cricket damage. Alfalfa weevil is still plentiful in some areas where damage is generally abated by June 15. Corn, hay and grain crops as well as garden, fruit and berries have been damaged locally by hoppers but not over wide areas. In Kane and Piute Counties high mountain meadows have been damaged by hoppers with Navajo Lake, straw berry Creek, Beaver Flat Mountain suffering most.
