Hldg. 225 Contribution: Aircraft based in Suffolk, N.Y., arrived at the Ogden Air Logistics Center with abnormal flight characteristics present since 1994. Members of Iockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems maintenance crews and Support Company, the 514th Flight Test Squadron flight pilots and aircrew worked together to diagnose and correct the problem. The team reviewed the historical data, conducted conferences with Ogden aircrews and performed the necessary test flights. "AF was probably the most thoroughly inspected airplane in the Air Force," said Wayne Ix'vesque, Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems' 65-097- 4, 0 65-097- 4 staff field engineer. "But it still flew crooked. This plane had become a real challenge and I sincerely believed if we couldn't fix it, it would end up in the bone yard." More ideas and flight profiles were written, engineered and tested. Alignment and asymmetry checks were conducted, the aircraft's indicators were calibrated, engine and propeller rigging was checked and components were removed and reinstalled. Still, neither the problem's origin, nor its solution could be found. "I talked to several Lockheed test pilots," Levesque said. "They told me "whatever fix you come up with is going to stick out like a sore thumb.' In other words, Q Hill Air Force Personnel. . .
