The students enjoyed this experience and hope to do it again. Sewing in home ec. By Michelle Fidell The classes of Home Economics are starting to sew in their classes. The teacher is Mr. Karyn Bertelson and she said for this quarter, that we must sew an article that has a zipper. The second sewing project will have to have a collar and sleeves.- - The third project will be anything the girls want to sew. The girls who have their outfits finished at the end of the school year, will be able to model them. This May Fashion Show will be held in the middle of May for any of the girls who want to. The girls who don't want to model in front of the public can just set out their clothes for display. Girls' and Boys' Day Gymnastics By Carolyn Borla Another big night at Helper Junior High as Gymnastics invade the campus on every Tuesday nights at 6:30 p.m. The beginner gymnists are directed by Barbra Jackson, Stew Fosset, and Linda Scartezina. The students work at a beginner's level and work up to harder tricks. Anyone interested in taking gymnastics contact Boyd Bell, or one of the instructors. Flag ceremony Algebra class breaks codes By Bernadette Pugliese were two quite overworked days as it was boys' and girls' day. Boys day came first so you know where that left the girls! First it started with the girls carrying books, pencils etc, in between classes. That was rather easy, but then came the heavy work. After seventh period the boys requested that the girls clean their lockers for them! What a job it was! Then came girls day. The girls tried to make the boys do the things like carry books, tie their shoes, sharpen pencils, etc. Only some of the girls asked. However, most boys were good sports too. Each student has been doing homework assign- ments, which usually By Shawna Regis The Helper Junior High Honor Band performed on Friday, February 6th at the Geary Theatre. The Helper Band was only one of the many bands that performed at the invitational Honor Band Program. Other bands participating were South Emery, San Juan, Mont Harmon, and others. The bands consisted principally of 9th grade students, but there were also some 7th and 8th grade students. The J.J.H. Honor Band Yearbook shapi rr im By Shawna Regis The Yearbook Staff has really been on the ball these last couple of months. The staff has been busy printing 86 pages of activity of pictures pictures, students, Rampage, class officers, student body officers, cheerleaders, drill team and basketball teams all busy helping with projects for the yearbook. Everyone is very eager for this year's yearbook to come out. Bake sale Fridays, January February 6 classes. This football game is played by the class dividing into two groups. with one the offense and one the defense. The defense kicks the ball off by typing a word or a couple of words as many times as they can in 20 seconds. Then a student on the defensive team is called at random by Mr. Kitchen. The student must reveal how many times he typed that word. The number of is yards of the kick-of- f calculated by the number of times the student typed that word. The offense and the defense teams both type a word in 20 seconds. Then 2 students.each on opposite sides, are picked at random to compare the number of times the word was typed. The difference in the two scores is how many yards the ball will move. It depends whether the offense team typed more than the defense team in order for it to move forward. During the typing time penalties are given if a person on either side looks at the keys. The team with the most points at the end of the class wins. The football game is to increase the students' typing speed and skills. the eighth graders and finally on the 13th the ninth graders will provide the items to be sold.
