Show 2 The Helper Journal Wednesday, Feb. Truck 11, 1976,' Editorial crash injures youths Helper's part of county , too 1" After a month long deadlock Carbon County has a new county commissioner in the person of Floyd Marx of Price. The Journal congratulates Marx and wishes him well in his new endeavor and at the same time trusts that he recognizes the fact that there is more to Carbon County than the r U-vM- v ir With Marx's appointment the commission is now three-membe- composed r of all Price residents. One, the commission boys hurt in recent accident near Carbon County Fairgrounds. truck rests in Battered pick-u- p background as ambulance attendant 16- - chairman, was born and raised in Helper, but has been closely identified with the affairs of the county seat most of his adult life as a Price businessman and city councilman. The turn of events that finally broke the deadlock over the selection of the new commissioner now questions the wisdom of the strategy Helper Democrats took in their efforts to secure the appointment for a North Carbon representative. It seems to the Journal that North Carbon and East Carbon are entitled to representation on the board. When the vacancy was created by the resignation of Gary Prazen, a resident of Carbonville, Helper Democrats held a caucus and voted to back Lou Trujillo for the post, putting all their eggs in one basket, so to speak. East Carbon offered no serious candidate for the position. When the deadlock was finally broken, Mrs. Janet Prazen, who had the support of Commissioner Rachiele, withdrew her name from consideration after she had assurance from Commissioner Simone that he would support Marx. Simone had steadfastly opposed Mrs. Prazen, voicing his support for either Marx or Trujillo. With all due respect to Trujillo, it appears now that had North Carbon interests offered the names of two or three candidates from this area to choose from, perhaps the latitude available to the two commissioners after Mrs. Prazen's withdrawal would have increased the possibilities of having a Helper man sit on the board once again. year-ol- d administers first aid to one of three Michael B.
