Show THE HELPER JOURNAL (Utah) MEMBER OF THE Entered N. THE JOURNAL PUBLISHING COMPANY HELPER, UTAH As Second Class Matter At The Post Office At Helper, Utah Joe Tullius and Ethel H. Tullius, Publishers Published Every PAGE TWO Thursday THURSDAY, WHATSOEVER By DONALD LOST AND PROUD - The tourist, having lost his sense of direction, saw the young farm boy sitting on the fence along the country road. Thinking that toe youngster would be able to give him that would help him fcc direction Bind his isense again, the tourist pulled along side the fence and stopped his car. He got out and approached the young man siting contently on the fence. "Howdy!" saifl the tourist. "Howdly!" replied Ithe young fanm boy. "Sure is (hot weather we aire having, isn't it?" asked1 the tourist trying to hide the fact that he had lost his way. JULY 20, .1972 .THINGS E. WHDMON "Sure is," said the farm boy. "Uh, could you tell one which " way to go to get to asked Ithe "Nope," answered the fairm boy in a (rather dul voice. "Wei, could you tell me which way to go to get to Newton?" asked the itourist. "Nope," answered the farm boy in the same dull voice. "Well, then, could you possibly tell me how to gelt to Oamden?" asked the tourist in ia disgusted voice. "Nope", came the resounding dull voiced answer. The tourist was done out, exhausted, finished. In his anger and discouragement he retnairk-eto the young man: "You Dodge-ville?- tourist. d sure don't know much about directions, do you?" "Nope," came ithe familiar reply. But the young man didn't stop with just that word this time. He had to finish it with these words: "But I ain't losit." That is a silly little story that has a great deal of truth in it. The young farm boy didn't know very much about directions, bult at least he knew he wasn't lost. That's a lot more than many people todlay know. I'm not speaking about being lost on an automobile trip. I'm speaking about being lost in our knowledge of and relationship Ito the Maker of the universe. You see, it doesn't take a lot of education to know that we aren't living apart from Him whjo made this world, and sometimes despite the fact that we are extremely educated we still lose our relationship with Him. The tourist was a seasoned veteran, but he was lost. The farm boy wasn't too smart, but he wasn't lost and1 he knew it. One lof the problems of our day is 'that there are many who are lost and like the tourist, too proud to admlilt it. We have gone so far away from and grown sio cold to the Creator that He no longer has any say in our lives. We live outside His will for us. The great 'tragedy of the tourist was that he wasnlt willing to admit that he was lost. - IN THE DISTRICT COURT OF THE SEVENTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT IN AND FOR CARBON STATE COUNTY, OF UTAH IN THE MATTER of the general determination of the rights to the use of water, both surface and underground, within the Drainage Area of the Price River and the Drainage Area of the Green River from he confluence of the Price and Green Rivers to the confluence of the Green and Colorado Rivers, excluding the Drainage Area of the San Rafael River in Utah. It was evident, even to the rather dumb farm boy, but ithe tourist wouldn't admit it. I'm afraid that is too often the tlhe plight of many individuals. Lost, and not willing to admit it. Well, I don't know about you. Perhaps you could use some help in finding directions along life's road. Perhaps' not. But most of us can. However, this I do know you won't get the help you might need unless you admit you need it and ask for it. Then the One who made you will give you instructions to set your life moving in the right direction. The man who is lost and proud will have a hard time finding 'his way.
