Evidently this is all that could be done because the Democratic Central Committee has never felt It necessary to adopt a platform and this year is no exception. We wonder if maybe you have no intention of telling the people of Carbon County what you represent and what objectives you plan to accomplish should your candidates be elected. It is interesting to note that you have indicated that the people of Carbon County shall speak out as to their wishes by casting their ballots. Needless to say, an indication was given in the primary election as to the degree of dissatisfaction in County Government and as to the great contributions of which you speak. The contributions in the area of Industrial Development, recreation, tourist attraction, speaks for itself when we analyze the unemployment statistics and number of new businesses and tourist attractions Instigated by the present administration. The Republican Party would like also to thank the Democratic Central Committee for their public recognition that Republican Party members are interested and are participating in progressive committees involved in trying to help solve some of the critical problems of Carbon County. We recommend further movements in this area.. It is hoped that the Democratic Central Committee endorsement of the Republican platform incorporated the fourth and fifth sections wherein it is stated: We decry the fact that lack of a system In the past in Carbon County has led to irresponsible and In efficient administration by leaving a large part of the county without representation in county affairs. We believe that a reorganization of connty government is long overdue; it is time for a change, and that change should be to a county government representative of all the or 472-64-23 y county. We hope you are in top shape o Z7 Most of the nearly 6 billion annual farm subsidy payments are collected by a very small percentage of prosperous large scale operators who have far larger incomes than most of the taxpayers who make up the subsidy. These large mechanized units can produce the subsidized commodities at far less than the government support price levels. They do not need the subsidies and these lush payments draw more capital and farmlarge corporations into theincreasing industry, making it small ingly difficult for the farmer to exist. As always, government intervention in this case favors the big operator and tends to drive the little fellow out of business. Howard Ker&hner's Commentaries, Inc., New York 19, N. Y.
