How does "educational life insurance" differ from other pol- icies? A. There are many different educational" policies. One such policy is a special kind of endowment life insurance, specifically designed to guarantee that funds will be available in the future to finance a child's college education, whether or not the father lives until the youngster reaches college age. Like any other endowment plan, this educational policy combines life insurance protection with a large amount of savings. A conventional endowment is often set np so that the full amount of the policy is paid in a single lump sum at the end of a certain number of years or immediately upon the death of the policyholder, if that happens before the policy matures. President Johnson's pledge that "the government will set an example of prudence and economy" may produce quicker congressional action on tax reduction legislatfn than had beeu expected. This is not yet certain, however. There are a number of imponderables that must be taken into consideration. One is the extent to which the Johuson Administration proposes to practice economy and prudence in government spending. An answer tentatively, at to this question will be least provided in the budget which Mr. Johnson is scheduled to send to Congress early next month. This will contain the Administration's spending program for the fiscal year beginning next July 1. A number of Senators are firmly opposed to a Senate vote on tax reduction the spending plans are made public. These Senators are unwilling to vote for tax cuts unless the Administration makes a serious effort at the same time to curb expenditures. On the other hand, if they were to be satisfied with the Administration's spending program, they would be much more likely to vote for the tax measure. Economy advocates were greatly pleased by President Johnson's pledge, in his message to Congress, that: "The expenditures of your government will be administered with the utmost thrift and frugality. I will insist that the Government get a dollar's value for a dollar spent." They did not overlook, however, the remainder of Mr. Johnson's statement that: "This does not mean that we will not meet our unfilled needs or that we will not honor our cemmitments. We will do both." The budget message was awaited to provide the answer as to how much spending this 21 Jan. 22 6:45 Helper Club vs Regis 8pra Mexican Lodge vs Chucks Jan. 27 6:45 Mexican L vs Veltri's 8pm Hansen's vs Castle Dale Helper Club vs Hansen's 8pm Chuck's vs Regis Jan. 20 t II J?1 V-- t...j. With a typical plan, the father continues to pay premiums through the child's third college year. If the father should die before then, no further premium payments would be due, and full benefits would still be paid during the child's college years. faFor example, a ther might purchase a typical $4,000 educational policy for the benefit of his son, who would be entering college about 10 years from now. The policy would provide $1,000 during each of the four years the youngster would be in college. Premiums on the educational policy are lower because they are spread over a longer period (13 yean instead of 10) and benefits are paid in installments over four yean instead of in a lump sum when the child enters JODRNAC (Utah) THURSDAY, DEC. 19, 1963 In the District Court of The State of Utah, in and for Carbon County before cm, I Helper City League First Half HELPER "V whose "home" has been Capitol IliU for 32 years, President Johnson recogruzes that Congress is going to carry out iti constitutional duty to examine all legislative proposals carefully before acting on them.
