Show OCTOBER 31, 1946 THUBSPAV, THE HELPER JOURNAL PRESIDENT SETS FORTH FEW COLLEGE STUDENT CHANGES IN BIG 9 (Crowded out last week) Xow that we are members of the school league a great deal Big 9 high in 0f enthusiasm is being aroused Carbon school the of high support fac-itteam. All of the administration, :md students at Carbon college greatly appreciate the enthusiasm and of Carbon conn loyalty of the people SET-U- P ty, according to Dr. a. E. Jones, president. There are some problems connected with this enthusiasm in; whkh the college is asking for the cooperation of everybody concerned. Dr. Jones reports that lie has con-- j tacted principals of the high schools in Salt Lake county as to the cus-- ' toms of those schools in relation to! v their athletic programs, and he feels that it is necessary that the school at Carbon fall in line and follow the ume procedures. These include: 1. That no school will send more than the regular team to any game. The transportation of no group, will be sponsored from one school to another other than the team which Is going to play.. This means that neither the band nor any club will be transported at school expense, or by school arrangements, to any game at which Carbon senior high school is a participant, unless Caiboa HELPER. UTAH high school should succeed in reaching the finals for the state championship game. It is the policy of those high schools to have the home school provide the band music and to place exhibitions during the intermission between the halves, and in every way stage the show. 2. 'o doubt a good number of students from Carbon high school ana Carbon college will follow the team to many of its games, especially when the games are at night. In every case, such students must arrange for their own transportation. j PAGE FIVE and they go entirely under the responsibility of the parents rather than the school. It must be definitely understood that the school will in no way sponsor, promote, or encourage any students other than the team to attend any of these games. 3. President Jones is very, anxious that the parents assume this responsibility in full and make sure that If their children attend these games that they will have safe means of transportation. Parents should check carefully upon the driver of the car and be assured that he is. a respon- - F NOMINEES TO BE VOTED FOR AT THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN CARBON COUNTY, NOVEMBER 5, 1946 M (jSty JSs- S DEMOCRATIC O j For Representative in Congress WALTER K. Students going from Carbon to any game in which this school participates must pay the regular admission for adults unless they carry with them their student body activity card. If they show this card at the gate they will be allowed students' rates Which have been fixed at the same amount for all memibers of the league. No doubt these customs and regulations will be a disappointment to many of our students, Dr. Jones admits, especially members of the band, Pep clubs etc., but we are Joining a group of schools whose customs and habits have already been established and in force for a good many years. We have tried for a long time to arrange for games with these schools, and we are very anxious to follow their customs and regulations now that we have succeeded.
