Such success as the Boy Scout scheme has had is due chiefly, aside from its inherent imaginative appeal for boys, to the fact that thousands of devoted men have given time and money - but chiefly time - quite unselfishly in cider that the boys who became Scouts niisM have the advantage of their counsel and experience. No similar social agency in the history of the world has ever engaged so many men as volunteers and their willingness and desire to be of some use is a tribute to the soil of unselfishness which is a component of the essential American character. These Scout leaders have nt given in vain, for there is ample evidence that the Boy Scouts of America have become among those consistently active in carrying out the service motive in our national life. This has always been amply demonstrated in times of emergency and is likewise to be discovered in ordinary clays by many signs. Not ihe least of them is the fact that many, in fact, most of those becovn-inBoy Scout leaders in the past several years have previously been the deit due their Scouts and are seizing upon that way of own Scoutmasters. This is significant evidence that ths Scout creed of helpfulness to others is a working doctrine. " HELPER TROOP MAKES RECORD During the past four years, or since the local Boy Scout troop was revived after several years of inactivity, rapid strides have been made .through the untiring efforts and valiant service of Scoutmaster Omar Bunnel and his assistant. Marvin Anxielin. In ithose few short years which have elapsed, the Helper troop has attended every district encampment ami in the great majority of these camps have been successful in gaining honors that have placed them in a class of the enviable. Six boys who began their Scouting careers four years ago have presented with their Eagle Scout badges. Less than two years after the reorganization of the Scouts here. Loren Da vies and Ray Bryner achieved the highest possLble award in Scoutdom, and have been had passed all required tests and gained the honors. Last Sunday 4 more boys realized their ambitions and were honored among ten other boys in the Carbon district. They are: Tom Apostle, Ronert Turner, Dean Winters and Jack Lloyd. Those who know any of these six boys, know that they fairly reek with the essence of young manhood. They are youns gentlemen of culture who will go far and be an asset to the communities in which they venture after reaching maturity and responsibility. Helper is proud of (these boys, her Scouts and her Scoutmasters. The district officers glorify in these boys and men and the other boys and men in the great Boy Scout movement.
