Only a few days before they had been snowed in and would probably not get out of their small valley for more than three months. They had food enough to last that length of time, but Jimmie had forgotten to get Christmas mother and sister had decorated presents for his mother, father, it. After he had gone to bed that and little sister. For this reason he was very unhappy. night he lay awake and thought of what his mother, father, and sisteg would say when they saw the fine things he had spent so much time in making. Finally lie got up and stole down the steps and placed the things under the tree. He then went back to bed and drifted into dreamless slumber. The next morning he was the last one out of bed because he did not expect to find anything for himself. But to his astonishment he found many things such as a pen, pencil, writing tablet and many other things. But what pleased him most was the happiness in the faces of the others. First of all he cut some boards of soft pine, then for little sister he made a pine doll bed and house. For his mother he made a magazine rack and polished it until it looked as if it was fresh from a store. For his father he made a model of a three-mastesailing ship. He Fpent most of his time on this and at last it was finished. He knew that in his father's dreams it would sail as had the ship his father had once owned. He finished these things the day before Christmas and he'd hid them away in his room.
