Units already registered are as follows: Cub Pack 18, scout troops 137, 118, 117, 124, 194, Explorer posts 337, 318 and 317. A district court of honor, under the direction of Noel Rosse, chairman, and Don Greenwood of the advancement committee, was held in the Union amusement hall Tuesday, Jan. 17. John F Leyland, Troop 124, was awarded a star scout badge. First class badges were award· ed to Kent C Jensen, troop 118, and Bruce DeHaan, troop 194. Glen Allgood, Paul Nicol and Larry Marshall of troop137 received second class badges. Merit badges were awarded to Phillip Hofman, Shirl Wright, Kent Vincent, Blaine Griffin and Kelth Nelson, all of troop 118. Paul H-eadman and John F Leyland, troop 124, also received merit badges. William E Woodward, troop col!lmitteeman from troop 137 received a training certificate. The annual district meeting of the East Jordan district was held Dec. 29. Reports of the operating committees were made and several awards given to scouters. Claude Bird, explorer commissioner, received his explorer ranger badge which is comparable to the scout eagle badge. Training awards were issued to two scouters who had completed requirements in traincovering a period of several years. Don Greenwood, scout commissioner and currently serv i n g o n the advancement committee, received his scouter's key. William C Adamson, scout· master of troop 124, received his scoutmaster's key. He also received the silver bee award, given annually by th e East Jordan district to an outstanding scouter. Arthur Peterson, Jordan school superintendent, and recently elected vice president of the Salt Lake Council, attended the annual meeting, made several presentations of awards and gave a stimulating address to the scouters and their wives who were present, .. The district committee wishes to express to the people and business. concerns of Midvale, their thanks and appreciation for the response to the Midvale Community Chest. 'The funds to cover the cost of scouting in the district· largely come from this source. The monthly round table for all scouters in the district will be held Thursday, Jan 26, in the Midvale First ward meeting house.
