Mrs Alice Bateman of Midvale was a dinner guest Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mr & Mrs Parley R Glover. Mr & Mrs Wallace Millerberg and Mr & Mrs Clarence Millerberg were among the guests at a surprise party given in honor of Miss Anna Johnson of Union Friday evening. Mr & Mrs Wallace Millerberg entertained at dinner in honor of Mrs Ora Pate Stewart and chlldren Wednesday of last week. Mrs Alden Barrett of Spring· ville,. visited Wednesday with her sister, Mrs Frank Pierson. EAST MIDVALE • MRS. IRENE OLSON, Reporter Archibald Gardner Camp of the D.U.P held its regular meeting Friday afternoon in Pioneer hall, with Capt. Beatrice Dimond in charge. The history of Sarah Jal!e Hamilton Howar~ mother of Leonora Olson, was read by historian Eva Turpin. The lesson, "Pioneer Fashions]' was given by Thelma Cavender. Nora T Bachman was released as 1st vice president, and Eudora Bateman was named in her place. Refreshments were served by hostesses, Mrs LeRoy Bateman and Mrs E MOlson. The West Jordan Beautiflcation club met at the home of Mrs Glen Hogan on Thursday evening. Mrs Pearl Decker read "The Last Word." The house prize was won by Mrs Willard Ham. There were 27 members present. Mr & Mrs George Spratling of Helper, and Mr & Mrs Ray Tripp of Chico, Calif., spent part of last week with Mr & Mrs Parley Spratling. Randy, son of Mr & Mrs Don Parr, had a tonsilectomy Thursday of last week. He is feeling iine. now. Mr & Mrs Arnold Moon of Salt Lake visited with Mr & Mrs Axel Lundquist on Sunday. Mr & Mrs Lorin Beck of Magna visited with the Axel Lundquists on Friday. Don C Froerer and mother, Mrs Elizabeth Froerer; Mr & Mrs Clyde A Froere, Peggy Shoemaker, Mr & Mrs Wayne G Olson, and Reid G Olson were dinner guests of Mr & Mrs Albert Olson on Tuesday even ing. The Special Interest group of the First ward MIA held a dinner party on Friday evening. An old-fashioned dinner was served in pioneer style at 7:30 o'clock to llO persons. All joined in clearing away the dishes, and a spicy program followed. Later, games were enjoyed, and dancing of pioneer dances and quadrilles followed, with Mrs Frances May at the piano. In charge of the party were Mrs Erruna Merton, president o( the group, and Mrs Miriam Steadman, secretary, assisted by all M.I.A. officers. Mrs John C Richards and .Mrs Ira J Burton were in charge of the dinner; the games were in charge of Joy Wixom, and the dancing was directed by Mr & Mrs Dean Bateman. Mr & Mrs Floyd Lundquist and daughter Leila arrived here from Brooklyn, N Y, on Nov. 13. Floyd has a 30 day leave and at the end of that period expects his release !rom the navy after 6 years' service. They are staying with his parents, Mr & Mrs Axel Lundquist. Mrs Blanche Stoddard of the Relief Society general board, was gue~t speaker at a youth meeting held in connection with sacrament service in the 2nd ward on Sunday evening. A large group of young pe?ple was present. Special musical numbers were given by a girls' double trio--Donna Beth Steadman, Agnes Weibell, Norma Joyce Bateman, Clara Steinfeldt, Barbara Barben, and LaRae Marett, with Mrs Valoy Chipman as leader, and Laura Jensen, accompanist. Miss Donna Gardner visited on Sunday with Mi~s Glenda Finlayson and her mother. A number of friends and relatives from here attended the wedding reception of Marian Burr and Jesse Almendinger, at South Jordan on Wednesday evening. Airs William H Gardner visited with Mr & Mrs Henry Closner on Nov. 11. The day marked the 66th anniversary of the time when the Dimonds and Mrs Closner arrived in Salt Lake from England.
