BIRTHDAY CLUB MEETS WITH MRS MARY SMITH The Birthday club met at the home of Mrs Mary Smith, Friday afternoon, honoring the birthday of Mrs Rolenia Smith. Those present included the guest of honor, Mrs Rolenia Smith, Mrs Mary Smith, Mrs Roy Wennerstrom, Mrs Lucille Jaynes, Mrs Mabel Fritz, Mrs Eliza Jenkins, Mrs Harvey Oldham, Mrs Vera Smith, Mrs Bernice Brown, Mrs Marie Hart, Mrs Lenore Jenkins and Mrs Evelyn Jensen of Sandy, and Mrs Amelia Holmquist, Mrs Lillie Carlsen and daughter, Sylvia, Mrs Edith Adams and Mrs Joyce Neuswander o( Murray. Luncheon was served at 2 p. m., followed by table games. Prizes were awarded Mrs Mabel Fritz, Mrs Eliza Jenkins and Mrs Mar· ian Oldham. Mrs Edith Adams of Murray was voted in as a new member of the club Utah's Oldest Lady Injured in fail Mrs Anna Catherine P Rasmussen, the oldest person in Utah, who will observe her 102nd birthday in the near future, had the misfortune to fall recently and hurt herself to the extent that she has since been bed-fast. Mrs Rasmussen had talked over the radiO on the Tom Brenaman show in Salt Lake City, the day before she was injured. She has been making her home the past several years with her daughter, Mrs Olivia Clair on East 1st North street. The many relatives and friends of Mfs. aasmussen hope for her a speedy recovery. MRS LENORE JENKINS ENTERTAINS CLUB Mrs LeNore Jenkins was the hostess to the Birthday club at her home in Sandy, Wednesday afternoon, in honor of her birth day. The group cooked hamburgers in the backyard and a party was en· joved by the guests of honor and Mr & Mrs Carter E. Grant, Mr & Mrs Grant Crump, Mr & Mrs Clifton Allsop1 Mr & Mrs Art Casper of Sandy, and Mr & Mrs Reed Grant of Salt Lake City. Mr & Mrs Carter Grant of New Jersey and Mr & M'rs Byron Grant were unable to be in attendance. An out!tanding concert of sacred songs was presented by Sandy First ward choir, Sunday evening, under the direction of J. Clement Crapo, in connection with the ward sacrament service. Besides the choir selections, baritone solo selections were by Henry Anderegg of Salt Lake City, and violin selections were by Wilford Pierson, accompanied on the piano by Betty Jo Pierson. A spiritual talk was given by Joy T. Dunyon. Tha. choir had a membership of more than 60 members. The reorganization of the ward bishopric will take place at the session, it is announced. The Sandy Second ward Primary held · their closing social Monday afternoon at the chapel for members of the ward primary and their mothers. AN ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE VE~TING THE ZONING COMMISSION OF MIDVALE CITY WITH PLANNING POWERS, PRESCHIBING T H E POWERS AND DUTIES SO VESTED AND CHANGING THE NAME TO ZONING AND PLANNING COMMISSION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF MIDVALE CITY, U'J;AH, ~ECTION 1. The Zoning Commission of Midvale City is hcrcby made and constituted to be the Planning \ IUld Zoning Commission of Midvale City. The L.oning and !'Janning Commission of Mid vale City shaJl have and attain all ot tl1e nghts, duties, powers and privileges heretofore granted to the L.oning Commission of MtdvaJe City by ordinance and by law and in adcL.tion shall have all of the rights, powers, duties and privileges hereinafter granted and enwnerated. The members of the Planning and Zoning Commission of Midvale City shall be the same as those heretofore appointed as members of the Zoning ~.,..;ommittee of Midvale City and the provisions with regard to membership, appointment, term, vacancies and mecungs provided in the Ordlnance creating the Zoning Commission of Midvale City shall apply to the Planning and Zoning commission of Midvale City. SECTION 2. TI1e members of the Planning and Zoning Com~ission shall serve without compensation except for reasonable expenses. In addition to powers and duties already appointed and granted hereby under and by virtue of the Ordinance granting a Zoning Commission the Planning and Zoning commission shall have the powers and duties hereinafter enumerated. SECTJON 3. It shall be the function and duty of the Planning and Zoning Commission, after holding public hearings, to make and adopt and certify to the City Council of Midvale City, a master plan for the physical devtJopment of Midvale City, including any areas outside of it.s boundaries which, in the commisson s judgment, bear relation to the planning of the City. Where the plan in~ valves territory outside the boundaries of the city, action shall be taken with the concurrence of the county or other municipal legislative body concerned. The master plan, with the accompanying maps. plats, charts, and descriptive and explanatory matter, shall show the Planning and Zoning Commission's recommendations for the said physical development, and may include, among other things, the general location and extent of streets. The Planning and Zoning Commission may from time to time amend, extend or add to the plan or carry any part or subject matter. into greater detail. SECTION 4.
