Many entertained at home while others enjoyed Christmas festivities with special groups or organizations in which they were affiliated. Last Saturday night employees of the Whitmore Oxygen plant and their partners were guests at an elaborate banquet and dancing party at the El Gaucho on Highland Drive. Sunday night members of the Emerson Hand household joined with relatives at the David A Hand in Sandy at a Christmas gathering, where plenty of eats and the exchanging of gifts were featured. Sunday afternoon the sited Saturday afternoon with the Goffs. Mrs Wayne G Olson and Miss lla Olson visited Miss Raveau Christensen, Sun~ay. Miss Doris Steen, of Iowa, was week end guest of Ruby Leak. The P T Bateman family held their annual Christmas party on Tuesday night, when 'Santa' ar· rived to distribute a present to each one of the 26 children and 14 adults present. Special guests were Lyle Wagstaff, of Bennion, who has just returned from the REATHA E MASON, Reporter children of Mr & Mrs ,rames M Whitmore were among other junior Whitmores to enjoy a turkey dinner and gift exchange at the Leslie Lind home in Midvale. Mr & Mrs S Peter Peterson visited Santa at the home of their daughter, Mrs V M Butler and family in Salt Lake City. Mr & Mrs C R Higgins had as their guests on Christmas day Mr & Mrs Maurice Fassett and 2 children of Salt Lake. A turkey dinner w1J.s served. At the James F Larkin home elaborate yuletide festivities were held 1\olonday evening complimenting their immediate family from Union. Mrs Irene Despain enjoyed the Christmas holidays with her parents in American Fork. She says among her choice Christmas souvenirs was a set of Japanese dishes, made of tekewood, a giit from her husband, Lt Ward Despain. Their mother, Mrs S W Despain and Mrs Ross McGee, also received similar sets. The homes of Mr & Mrs Angus Beckstead was the scene of hospitality Sunday when a large group of relatives called to spend the day. Mrs Irene Despain states that her brother, Pfc Lloyd MecGee has re-enlisted in the army engineers and is now at Ft Jackson, S c. He expects to be sent overseas shortly. Later they visited with Mr & Mrs Clarence Sharp. Mr & Mrs P A Swenson entertained for their family on Christmas eve. Refreshments and a pleasant evening together were enjoyed. Mr & Mrs Richard F Middleton, Mr & Mrs Elmer Olson & son spent Christmas with the Don Worthens. Russel Middleton is home with a navy discharge. Sunday, Mr & Mrs Leonard Mil~ lerberg visited with friends in Ogden, Woods Cross and Kaysville. A family dinner party was held at the Leonard Millerberg home on Christmas day. A beautiful Christmas centerpiece adorned the table. Glfts were exchanged at a iighted Christmas tree. M.rs Reatha Mason and daugh~ ter Cheryl Lynne returned from a 3-weeks trip to Seattle, Everett and Monroe and Spokane, Wash, where they visited relatives and friends. In the afternoon they gave gifts to 256 children who assembled around the community Christmas tree. The turkey shoot held Sunday from 11 a m to dark, sponsored by the Union Lions was also successful. 50 turkeys were given a way to the highest shooters. The next meeting of the Lions will be Thursday at the school house. Business meeting will be held and the speakers will be returned veterans.
