JORDAN I An enjoyable evening was spent Friday when members and partners of the Elders quorum attended a social in the West Jordan amusement hall. The affair was in charge of William Shores, president of the organization, and the following committee: John Peterson, program; Mrs L D Richardson and Mrs Glen Beckstead, games and Mrs Leonard Brown, refreshments. PVT OWEN STEADMAN FETED BY PARENTS HERE Mr & Mrs Clifford Steadman assisted by their daughter, Lorna, entertained at dinner Saturday in honor of their son, Pvt OWen Steadman. Roses formed the center piece for the table at which covers were laid for Miss Dona· bell Spratling, Miss J anet Barben , Ray Sharp, Max Spratling) Kenneth Jones, Owen Hokanson and Calvin Buckley, G M 2 lc. Mr &:: Mrs Palmer En tertain Tor Departing Son A n outstanding party of the week was held Sa'Wrday evening at Pioneer hall when Mr & Mrs Ray Palmer entertained in honor of their son, Lawrence, who leaves soon for the armed forces. The evening was spent with a program and dancing, and luncheon was served to a large number of relatives and friends. Mr Palmer leaves a wife and 4 small children, who with many friends and relatives wish him lots of luck. F AMILY HONORS MRS SOPHIE G A RDNE R Mrs Sophie M Gardne r , w idow of Rausel B Gardner, and one of the two remaining pioneers of West Jordan, was honored Friday evening at her home at a family dinner party on her 88th birthday anniversary. Mrs Gardner has 7 living children, Major Mark Gardner, stationed at Luke Field, Arizona; Mrs M E Holt, Heise, Ida; Mrs W L Shields, Mrs 0 J Bracken, and Mrs Ida Green, Salt Lake City; Don Gardner, West Jordan and David I Gardner, Midvale. She was born Nov 8, 1862 at Clewer, Berkshire, Eng 1 and , daughter of Ephraim and Eliza Lane Page. She came to West Jordan in 1889. was married to William Dimond Nov 27, 1889 in Logan L D S 1emple. He died 3 years ago. She was active in L D S activities.
