Glen Furse, son of 1\![r & Mrs A C Furse in the navy, stationed at Farragut, Idaho, has been home on a sick leave. He returned yesterday. Mrs William J Leak and Mrs Albert Olson attended the West Jordan stake Relief Society board meeting at the home of Mrs Phoebe Mitchell in Bluffdale on Thursday of last week. l\1iss Stella Pierce of Price, spent the week visiting at the home o.f Mr & Mrs A C Furse. Mr & Mrs Lawrence Cardall are now at home at 1739 Herbert avenue in Salt Lake and will be happy to have their friends call. Mrs Rosella Dietemasie of West Jordan, and Arthur Anderson of Sandy, were married 1-ecently and will make their home in West J ordan. A large number from West Jordan atteflded the stake conference Saturday evening, Sunday morning, afternoon and evening. 1\fr & Mrs Donald Hogan received a telegram on Sunday from their son, Heber, stating that he would be coming through Salt Lake in the late afternoon so they met the train and had almost an hour's visit with him. He is in the air corps and was enroute to Denver, Colo., !rom Santa Ana cruil. ' Mr & Mrs Arthur I Peterson were dinner guests o.f Mr & Mrs Russell Peterson of Midvale, Monday evening. Kenneth Cook, son of Mr & Mrs LeRoy Cook, is stationed at Farragut, Idaho. This makes two sons in the navy and two in the army. They received word from Vernon of the infantry, stationed at San Luis Obispo, that he had been made a sergeant since his furlough at Christmas time. Another son, Carl Cook, P 0 2-c, is now at home on leave and will report soon for a new assignment at Norfolk, Virginia. He recently returned from an amphibious operation in the Southwest Pacific and has been out since last March in the New Guinea area where he has been aboard a transport, with landing ports at Lae, Finchheaven ~nd othe1·s. Wendell, the other son, m the army, is in Louisiana in ordnance work. Mrs C E Steadman is spending most of the week helping to care for Mr Steadman's parents, Mr & Mrs Walter 8teadman in Salt Lake. Delo1·is Joy Steadman and Maurine Spratling are staying with Mr & Mrs Parley Spratling and going to school. Word bas been received by Mr & Mrs Albert Dimond from their son, Stanley Dimond, who is somewhere in the Pacific, that he has had a short leave and was permitted to visit his col.tsin, Mrs Hattie Dimond Foster, at he1.· home in Honolulu. Ren M Leak is in the St Marks hospital recovering from a hernia operation. Lee Dimond returned Sunday from the St Marks hospital. Cleve Bingham of Spanish Fork, Miss Dora May Whiting. Cpl. Bingham returned Ir01n China recently after completing 64 combat missions over enemy-held territory in China, Burma and India. He is shown polishing up the Nicaraguan Medal, and the ~dal of Merit awarded him by the Republic of Nicaragua. He and his wife, Sue, will make their future home in South San Francisco. A new arrival came to gladden the home of Lieut. and Mrs John A Samuelson o.f Los Angeles. Calif., on Friday, Jan. 28, weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces. Mr Stork ran a race with Uncle Sam and won. Lt. Samuelson expects to leave his present location any day, but is happy to have been able to get acquainted with his little daughter who has been named Jacque (Jackie) Ann, before leo.vjng. Mother and babe are doing nicely. Mrs Samuelson will be remembered as the former 1\Uss Bet:h Nielsen of Crescent. WEST JORDAN SCHOOL NOTES Stamp and Bond Sales Continue Last week Miss Ritchie's home room, 9II, had charge of the stamp booth. A total of $480.75 was sold which with preceding week's total of $618.50 makes a grand total or $1109.25. The rooms having attained the 100 per cent goal are 91, 9II, 71, 5th and 6th grades. The students seem very en~ thusiastic about the booth and we hope to sell many more stamps and bonds. Mr Christiansen's home room has charge of sales this week. -Norma Cundick Students Enjoy Movie • The movie "Gulliver's Travels" was presented to our school Thursday through the courtesy of the district. The children enjoyed it immensely. We hope to have shows like this very often. -Marjorie Young New Instruments Purchased The students of the fourth and Jifth grades are learning to play a new instrument which each purchased lately.
