BARROWS, Society Editor Family Dinners Fete Corporal Lloyd Stowe Honoring their nephew, Corporal Lloyd Stowe, who has been home on furlough, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Javaine entertained at a family dinner at their home on Wasatch Monday. Lloyd's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Forgie entertained for their grandson, Tuesday evening. Parents Announce Son's Marriage . Stanley Malstrom son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Q. Malstrom of West oJrdan and Miss Marjie Carlson of Murray were married in Sacramento, Calif., on Friday March 19. Stanley is in the army signal corps and is attending school in Sacramento. Mrs. Malstrom and son, Ellis accompanied Miss Carlson to Sacramento to be present for the marriage ceremony. The bride remained with her husband and Mrs. Malstrom and son returned by way of Los Angeles, where they visited with Mrs. Malstrom's brother. They artived home Sunday evening. Pearson-Horne Wedding Soleminized March 16 One of the outstanding social affairs of the season was the wedding recption of Eugene Pearson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milo Pearson of West Jordan, and Miss Shirley Horne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Horne of Salt Lake Tuesday evening 'at the Lion House in Salt Lake. The young couple were married in the Salt Lake temple the same day. The parents of the bride and groom were in the receiving line. Brides maids were: Wanda Pearson, Evelyn Davidson and Ruth Hillman. Mack Van Valkenburg was best man. The bride was lovely in a white satin gown and veil. She carried a beautiful boquet as did the brides maids. Musical numbers preceded dancing. A large number attended and the gifts were numerous and beautiful. The couple will make their home in Salt Lake where the groom is .in his junior year at the University of Utah. Short Story Club Meet At Larson Home Friday Mrs. John Larson entertained her "Short Story" club at her home on Center street Friday afternoon. Yellow daffodils formed a very pretty centerpiece for the table. Luncheon was served at one o'clock. The afternoon was spent socially. Clara Thompson Weds Reid Boggess Friday Bishop and Mrs. Jess Thompson of 1Jnion, announce the marriage of their daughter, Clara and Reid Boggess, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Boggess. The ceremony was performed Friday in the Salt Lake temple by Mark Austin. A reception was held in the evening at the ward amusement hall. Music for dancing was furnished by Max Christensen a11d his orchestra. The bride was lovely in tradion.al white satin entrain, long sleeves and sweetheart neckline. Her veil was of very sheer brides illusion, beautifully embroidered in fine silk, and she carried brides roses and •g ardenias. A sister, Mrs. Beulah T. Curtis was matron of honor, Miss Pearl Griffiths, Miss Effie Thompson, Miss Barbara Isaacson, bridesmaids. Mrs. Beth B. Jensen maid of honor. All wore gowns of variated shades of blue and carried gardenias. Evan .Jensen was be&~ man. Musical numbers were furnished during the evening by Miss Bette Condie, Mrs. Thompson wore orchid silk and Mrs. Boggess was frocked in pink lace. Two hundred guests were present. Mr. Boggess is employed at the Utah Idaho School Supply company and for the present the young couple will make their home in Salt Lake City. Miss Ford Honored At Glover Home Mrs. Parley Glover and Miss Lucille Glover entertained Monday evening at their home on Union avenue at State street at a miscellaneous shower honoring Miss Bessie Ford of Salt Lake. ESPERSONi Agent Phone: Mid. 250 Marriage Announced Mrs. Catherine Marie Wix of Meeker, Colo., daughter of Mrs. Rose Stuart of Sandy, was mar' ried Monday at the home of her sister, Mrs. Arthur Sorenson, to Harris Eugene Sexon also of Meeker. The marriage was performed by Bishop Isaac Sorenson before members of the immediate family. Gleaner Girls Entertain M Men Basket Ball Team Members of East Midvale ward M Men basket ball team were honored guests at chicken dinner in the Relief Society quarters Saturday evening at the ward chapel. Gleaner girls were hostesses and the affair was under the direction of the M.LA. class sponsors, Bishop and Mrs. T. Donald Creer. Emerald tapers in crystal holders of fern were used on the mantle. Spring flowers mingled with South American decorative motifs carried out a green and white color scheme. Minature foot-balls were used as favors. Conway Nielsen assistant coach to Earl J.Sabey was master of ceremonies. Toasts were given by Miss Hester Henderson, Gleaner Girls class president and Coach Sabey. Piano solo, Miss Alta Glover; reading, Miss Marion Powell; community · singing was also enjoyed. Covers were laid for 30. Included in the honored guests were Gordon Glover, Curtis Jukes, Stanley Simper, Bryant Harrison, Glen Harper, Frank Mascara, Douglas Carlson, Bob Marlor, Scott Brown, Coaches Earl Sabey and Conway Nielsen, Dale Jukes, Parley Glover, Ray Trinnamon, Kelvin Evans, former team mates, who are serving in the armed forces of U. Donald Creer attended the Delta Gama sorority "Founders Day" formal banquet Wednesday evening at the Hotel Utah Junior ball room in Salt Lake City. Friends Entertain For Mrs. Rosenhan Mrs. Blanche Rosenhan was an honored guest at a well arranged party at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Christopherson on Forbush avenue Friday evening, when a group of old friends met who were officers and teachers in the primary organization two years ago. Birthdays of the members are remembered. Games and refreshments were enjoyed by the honored guest and Mrs. Mable Wilson, Mrs. Effie Glover, Mrs. Jane Sharp, Mrs. LaNome McCleary, Mrs. Margaret Nielsen, Mrs. Eirena Nielsen, Miss Fae Robinson, Miss Fern Swenson and Mrs. Christopherson. Mrs. Rosenhan was presented with a lovely gift. Newly Weds Arrive For Visit With Pa:rents Staff Sergeant and Mrs. Merle L. Fairbourn arrived Sunday evening for a brief visit with Merle's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. D . Fairbourn. They visited with relatives Monday at Draper before leaving in the late afternoon for Charlotte' North .Carolina. Sergeant Fairbourn spent most of his furlough in Snow Flake, Arizona where he was united in marriage Tuesday, March 16 in the L.D.S. temple in Mesa, Ariz. to Miss Fern Flake, daughter of James Flake. A reception was given Friday evening honoring the young couple before their departure for Utah. Both young people filled, a mission in Texas. Mrs. Fairbourn is the 13th member of a fam ily of 17 who has filled a mission for the L.D.S. church. Merle is in the quarter masters corps at Camp Sutton, North Carolina. The couple will make their home in Charlotte. D.U.P. Hear Report Of County Camp Meeting · Mrs. James W. Trinniman was hostess Thursday to members of Sharp Camp Daughters of Utah Pioneers, at her home on South State street. A report of the county camp meeting held in Salt Lake was given by Captain Rachel M. Forbush. The lesson "Early Out Door Play Grounds" was given by Class Leader Marie Robbins with class partisipation. Dainty refreshments were served by the hostess. Luella Olson Feted On Birthday Sunday Mrs. Oscar Olson entertained at a birthday dinner Sunday honoring her daughter, Luella. A birthday cake centered the table and covers were laid for the immediate family and the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. C. 0. Bloom· field, Jack and Walter Bloomfield of Salt Lake City, Paul Donnivan of Kearns, Mrs. Carde Johnson and Miss Anna Johnson. Young People Enjoy Roller Skating Party ' East Midvale ward M Men and Gleaner Girls, numbering 20, enjoyed a roller skating party Friday evening in Sugar House. Refreshments were enjoyed at Tylers Ice Cream parlors at Murray. WEST JORDAN Mrs. Irene Olson, Corr-espondent Mr. and Mrs. P. T. Bateman attended the funeral services of Mrs. Nettie Parker Brown at the Joseph William Taylor Funearl parlors Friday. Mrs. Bateman was a life long friend of the deceased and was requested to make a talk giving a life sketch of the deceased, which she did. Bishop and Mrs. Lawrence T. Dahl entertained at a dinner for the members of the ward bishopric at Hotel Utah Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Howar'd Barben, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schmidt and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Stocking attended. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Densley became the proud parents of a baby boy at the Cottonwood hos- . pital Friday morning. Mrs. Densley was formerly Miss Ida Cooley, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Cooley of West Jordan. Mr. Densley is in the U. S. navy. At present attending navy school at the University of Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Lyn Bateman announce the arrival of a baby daughter born to them at the Cottonwood Maternity hospital Tuesday, March 16. Mrs. Hugh Finlayson motored to Copperton Thursday of last week with her two children. Max attended a ball game and she and Glenda visited with Mr. and Mrs. Leo Thorne Miss Pearl Hibbard of Monrovia, California, is spending a two week's vacation visiting friends and relatives in Ogden, West Jordan and vicinity. She and her brother, Gene of Logan, spent the week-end visiting in West Jordan. They were dinner guests on Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Axel Lundquist. Mrs. Hugh Finlayson and Mrs. Glen Hogan were Salt Lake visitors Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Bateman and baby of Ogden, spent Tuesday visiting with Mrs. E.- M. Bateman. Charles Steadman and daughter, Deloris Joy, celebrated their birthday anniversary March 11, and a friend Doris Wood of Riverton, March 15. Doris spent the week-end as guest of Deloris at the Steadman home. Mr. and Mrs. Steadman and the girls attended a couple of shows in Salt Lake City. Bishop and Mrs. Gerald Andrus and children of Draper, are spending a couple of weeks at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Steadman. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Silcox and Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Tripp attended the funeral services of Mr. Tripp's sister, Mrs. Emma Marsh in Tooele Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Silcox spent Thursday visiting with Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Tripp of Murray. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Winterrose of Heber City, and Mrs. E. M. Bateman were luncheon guests of Mrs. La Mar Burkinshaw Monday. Mrs. Arthur I.
