The schedule for Thursday, December 3 at Union high school is as follows: East Midvale vs. Midvale First at 7 p. m.; Union Second vs. Midvale Second at 8 p.m. and Butler vs. Union First at 9 p. m. Superintendent Harold Shaw was released because of his removal from the ward, and .J. William Thompson was sustained as .uperintendent. Merrill Shaw was wstained as first counselor, succeeding Arnold .J. SANDY GIRLS RECEIVE J"IRST AID CERTIFICATES Misses Geneva Nicholl, Goldie Graff and Fae Ostler received their certificates recently from the national headquarters of the American Red Cross, certifying that they had completed the standard course in First Aid. The course was sponsored by the Les Bonne Ami club No. 4 of the Theta Rho girls' club, under supervision of Mrs. T. W. Nicholl and Mrs. W. F. Meyer. Mrs. D . .J. Searle of Midvale was the instructor. FINE MUSICAL PROGRAM PLEASES SANDY FOLKS An outstanding program was presented by the Deseret News Troubadours' male chorus, Sunday evening at the Sandy First ward sacrament service, with Bishop Isaac L. Sorenson in charge.· Besides the chorus numbers, the . program included vocal selections by Myn Whitney and Nathel Brown, and marimba solos by Mrs. Bessie Marilyn Pattillo. Murk was the piano accompanist. A gospel message was given by Elder Levi Thorup, with a narrative concerning Sandy, by Harold Jensen, son of the late Andrew Jensen, assistant church historian. DEMOCRATIC CLUB TO HEAR CHILD DELINQUENCY TALK "Child Delinquency and Child Problems" will be discussed by Former Senator Elliott, now secretary of the juvenile court, at a meeting of the Salt Lake county Women's Democratic club to be held Friday, Nov. 27, at 2 p.m. at the Salt Lake County Firemen's hall in Murray, according to Mrs. G. K. Douglas, corresponding secretary. Mrs. L. C. Mitchell of Sandy, president, will be in charge and Mrs. Reg White of Sandy will be in charge of the program. All members and others interested are urged to attend. 3. T. OSTLER HONORED On BIRTHDAY DATE A family dinner was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs . .J. T. Ostler on East Second South street, Wednesday evening of this week honoring the birthday of Mr. Ostler. Lewis, Washington, were visitors during last week of Mr. and Mrs. George G. Nelson at their home on North State street. Mr. Lewis Bishop and little daughter were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Bishop at their home on Seventh East street. Mrs. Sophrona Bateman, Mr. and Mrs. Des Bateman, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hyatt, Mr. and Mrs. Myrle Allsop and daughter, Lois, and Mrs. Melrhea Bateman of Sandy were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Silas Brady at a turkey dinner at their home in Salt Lake City Sunday evening,r10noring the birthday of Mrs. Brady. Mrs. Roylance Peterson .Johnson, daughter of Mayor and Mrs. L. E. Peterson, left Wednesday of last week for Springfield, Missouri, where she joined her husband, Raymond F . .Johnson, of the United States Army, who is still confined to a hospital, following several months illness. Mrs. Stanley Beckstead spent Thanksgiving day with her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Allen, and children, at Hyrum. Second Lieutenant and Mrs. Errold Gurr and Lieut. Gurr's mother, Mrs. W . .J. Gurr of Parawan were visitors Monday of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hyatt at their home on Seventh East street. Lieut. and Mrs. Gurr were married last Saturday in Salt Lake City. Following a visit with relatives in Parawan, Lieut. Gurr left Wednesday evening for his new post at Wendover, Utah. Monday evening Mr. and Mrs. Glen Hyatt and Mrs. Della Beckstead spent the evening in Salt Lake with the visitors. · Miss Thressa Lindell, who has been the buyer and head of the interior decorating department of the Barnes Woodin Company at Yakima, Washington, has returned to the home of her mother, Mrs. C. Lindell. At the present time Miss Lindell is employed in the interior decorating department at the Z.C.M.I. in Salt Lake City. In keeping with the Thanksgiv- ing holiday the students of the .Jordan high school enjoyed a dance VVednesday afternoon at .Jordan high school gymnasium. A family dinner was held at the home of Mrs. C. Lindell on Thanksgiving day, when covers were laid for 14. Udell George went to St. Mark's hospital Tuesday where he underwent an operation. .Jack Griffith came home Monday to visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Evan 0 . .Jensen . .Jack has been at Boise, Idaho, for several months. The Sandy First ward priesthood meetings which has been held on Monday evenings, has been changed to Wednesday eve-. nings at 7:30 p.m., it has been announced by Bishop Isaac L. Sorenson. On outstanding lecture and discussion on "Education of Dentistry in Relation to Nutrition," was given by Dr. R. C. Dalgleisch, state director of dental health, at the Special Interest group meeting of Sandy First ward M.I.A. Tuesday evening. Dr. Harold E. Nelson of Midvale was responsible for bringing the famous Dr. Dalgleisch of the Sandy class, and he also participated in the discussion. Mr. and Mrs. Marlon S. Bateman and sons were Thanksgiving day dinner guests at a family dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Bateman in West .Jordan. Mrs. Robert Snyder and daughter, Lila, of Myton, Utah, and Mrs. Buddy Cox and daughter Patsy of Salt Lake City were overnight guests on Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Christensen. Lila and Patsy are great-granddaughters of Mr. and Mrs. Christensen. Mr. and Mrs. William Grow and sons Billy, Dick and Robert were visitors on Sunday evening of Mr. and Mrs. Christensen. The annual reunion of the Thomas Smith family organization was held Thursday evening of last week at the Grant ward recreation hall. Sorenson. Mrs. Ebba Finlayson of Idaho Falls, Idaho, left Monday of this week after visiting with her mother, Mrs. C. Lindell, and her · daughter and Mrs. Perry Warner and husband. Mrs. Finlayson also visited with her son, Allan .Jr. who is in the engineers division of the United States army air corps, stationed at Tucson, Arizona, wh0o was spending a ten-day furlough visiting with relatives here and in Idaho Falls. The Finlaysons areformer residents of Sandy. Allan .Jr., is the grandson of Mrs. C. Lindell, who also has two other grandsons in the service of their country. They are Captain Harold White, son of Mr. and Mrs . .J. Edward White of Salt Lake City, who is serving overseas in the United States army, and .Jack Lindell of the ramy air corps, stationed in Virginia. .Jack is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lindell of Elsinore, Calif.
