Reporter) WONOE~FOL "REDUCING • GRANITE August 31 has been set as the final date for acceptance of "allrisk" crop insurance applications on the 1941 winter wheat crop, James H. Jensen, chairman of the Salt Lake county AAA committee, announced today. "Winter wheat growers who want to insure their crop should remember two things," Mr. Jensen said. "First, they must apply for the insurance and pay the premium, in wheat, cash or by assignment on their agricultural conservation payment, before the crop is seeded. Second, no applications will be accepted after the closing date." This deadline applies only to winter wheat. The closing date is being set earlier than last year to give farmers a more even chance and to not let some of them see how things are going to turn out before they insure. Since the Federal Crop Insurance program is a cooperative way for farmers to take care of crop losses it is necessary that all have an even chance with crop hazards. The yields and rates for the farmers of Salt Lake county have been set up on that basis. Reserves of wheat equivalent to premiums paid in are held to pay crop losses. This wheat is paid in by all the farmers cooperating in the program. If one farmer waits until he is sure of a loss before he takes out insurance he is taking advantage of other farmers. The program is built upon the Pfinciple of all farmers "chipping in' to build up a reserve to take care of losses. This makes it important that yields and rates be set up in the county that are fair to all the farmers cooperating in the insurance program Mr. Jensen said. EAST MIDVALE CMn. Rachel Forbush.
