I A concert performance by all the bands of the Jordan school district will be held Sunday, May 15, at 3:30 P· m. on the lawn of the Jordan high school, it has been announced by Dr. C. N. Jensen, Jordan superintendent of the school district. The Jordan and Bingham high school bands, as well as all junior and elementary school bands of the district will take part in the program. The public is invited to attend. Jordan Post Plans Memorial Day Exercises * The annual memorial day services of Jordan Post No. 35, American Legion, will be held as usual on May 30, according to Chairman E. D. Mickelsen. Memorial exercises will be held as follows: Herriman, 9:30 a. m.; Bluffdale, 9:55 a. m.; Riverton, 10:15 a. m.; South Jordan, 10:35 a. m.; West Jordan, 10:55 a. m.; Midvale 11:15 a. m.; Sandy, 11:35 a. m. and Draper, 12:55 a. m. The subcommittee was assigned to study changes necessary in the street lighting system on Center street if the beautification project is to be completed. Gardner, district chairman, Joseph Mickelsen and J. M. Peterson. Scouts of Sandy Third ward, a new organization under the direction of Scoutmaster Wilford Hansen, received 13 tenderfoot badges. Troop 137 of Midvale Second ward received awards as follows: Keith Poulson and Leroy Markus, second class badges. Roger Carlquist of Troop 164 received his first-class badge. Newell Taft, Wardle Steadman, Billy Pugmire and Director Clyde Pugmire and a Scout from Troop 117 all received merit badges. Wardle Steadman was awarded his star badge for outstanding work, and his mother also received a reward for the part she has played in the Scout organization. Fashion Show IAt Sandy School Proves Success * More than 100 girls of Sandy junior high school took part in the annual fashion show of the school held Wednesday afternoon at the school auditorium with more than 150 mothers attending. The show was under direction of Miss Thelma Naser, home economics instructor of the school. Articles made by the girls during the year were modeled by the girls including pajamas, lounging pajamas and house coats, sports wear, blouses, and boleros ; house and sport frocks , aprons and afternoon frocks. Following the fashion review the gir ls entertained at a tea. Phyllis Smith and 'Donna Ntx were chairmen of the arrangements of the tea, assisted by Betty Bradley and Maxine Orton. The serving table which was covered with lace filet cloth over pink, was presided over by Jennie Mead and Francis Wright, assisted by Barbara Dewey, Ramona Hand, Dorothy Horne, Effie Gunderson and Norma Steward. Music during the afternoon was furnished by Gweneth Steffensen and Gordon Ohlson. Edna Hansen was chosen chairman of the fashion show. Iva Pixton was chairman of decorations.
