Richard Roellig Ogden ALC Commander Christmas tree lighting Wednesday Hilltop Times Staff The Officers' Club Christmas tree will be lit Wednesday signifying the beginning of the holiday season. The Hill AFB Officers' Club will host Gen. George Babbitt, commander. Air Force Material Command, at the annual tree lighting ceremony. The ceremony is open to all Hill AFB civilian personnel and all military ranks. It will take place in the Heritage Room at 5:30 p.m. Babbitt will conduct the ceremony. The 16 Girl Scouts have been practicing "Deck the Halls," "Jingle Bells," "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas." The Girl Scouts have been practicing for a few weeks for another performance at the Hillcrest Dining Facility on Dec. 18. Troop 224 leader Alison Robinson said it was an honor for the girls to sing for all of the troops. Robinson said the girls and their families were also honored and excited about the opportunity to perform for Babbitt. She feels the Hillcrest performance is important for those service members who won't be able to go home for Christmas and are missing their families. The fourth and final phase is the "weight and balance" phase. This process takes four to six hours. The demo team will monitor the aircraft inventory, weighing, jacking and filling out the proper forms.
