Timothy Trager Hilltop Times staff The first 0 Thunderbolt, close air support aircraft arrived at Hill Monday as part of the workload received from the Sacramento Air Logistics Center The 0 will be used as a demonstration model to show Sacramento officials and the 0 system program director that Hill employees can accomplish the four main phases of depot level maintenance. The piloted by Lt Col. Walter Givhan, arrived around 11:50 a.m. and did a fly-b- y past the main flight line area. The pilot was met by Brig. Gen. Thomas Ogden Air Logistics Center vice commander, and ii. Col. Hank Taylor, Aircraft Director, after the plane landed. "This is my first trip to Hill AFB and the first trip to Hill for this airplane," said Givhan. "I was told there was going to be a small reception, but when I flew by on the low approach and looked to the right, I was impressed by the turnout. I'm looking forward to seeing the good work folks here are going to do putting this jet . f back in shape." t The 0 and OA-1- 0 Thunderbolt II is the first aircraft specially designed for close air support of ground forces. e It is a simple, effective and survivable jet aircraft that can be used against all ground targets, including tanks and other armored vehicles.
