Please give your supervisor and chain of command the opportunity to work with you in answer ing questions and solving on the "Spirit believe Award." I, as well as my this award is long, long overdue. Being honored means a lot. by Correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand the award is generated by peers for employees who go the extra mile and exemplify excellence, integrity and service before self in relation to their grade or rank, job responsibilities and overall performance. However, understand some employees have been nominated by management Ql want to compliment Hill AFB I rather than peers and those employees have received the award. Can you clarify the guidelines to nominate a A The Spirit Award Program guidance says "any employee may nominate another employee." We can even nominate people from other organizations. Peer nominations are encouraged because of the special meaning they have; however, supervisors are part of the work force, and shouldn't be excluded from this program. In many cases, the only way some employees can be nominated will be through the actions of a supervisor. If I am especially impressed with someone I work with, I too want to be able to make a nomination without restriction. All Spirit Award nominations the nominashould be looked at for what they are tion of a special person by someone who believes that not on person meets the definition of an extra-mile- r, the basis of who submitted the nomination.
