MACH award to Amidan; IMAGE award to Brewer In May, the Hill Administrators Association announced the winners of the 1994 MACH and IMAGE awards. MACH Amidan Award Michael D. The MACH award for management achievement was given to Michael D. Amidan, deputy director of the Aircraft Directorate. This award recognizes a manager who has exemplified exceptional management achievement. Amidan was given the responsibility of organizing a new division within the Financial Management Directorate that became known as the Business Enhancement Division. This division led Hill into the realm of competition by preparing a proposal to the Navy to perform maintenance work on the FA-1- 8 aircraft. Hill won that competition and several others, representwhich ing nearly $127 million preserved approximately 600 jobs at Ogden Air Logistics Center. "We have continually challenged him (Mr. Amidan) with management positions of increasing scope and complexity; he's exceeded our expectations every time. IMAGE Award Nancy J. Brewer Hill financial management, providing e volunteers to organizations (such as Special Olympics and Muscular Dystrophy) and setting up educational opportunities. She is the primary interface for Hill with community agencies that provide services to members of the Hill AFB family. As such, she serves on many committees in the local community and on Hill AFB. Her nomination said, "Of all her qualities, the one that is the most evident is her willingness to accept any assignment or duty with enthusiasm. She has a fascination with new ideas and new information. She is always pushing herself to be better at what she does." off-bas- computer engineer wins prestigious award Kim Zimmerman of the 84th Radar Evaluation Squadron was recently awarded The IMAGE award is the most prestigious award given by the Hill Administrators Association. It is presented to one Hill AFB employee who through exceptional accomplishments and activities presents the best image of Hill AFB to the public, the This community and their year's winner was Nancy J. Brewer from the Family Support Center. Brewer is the chief of programs at the Family Support Center. Her responsibilities focus on the health and welfare of the military family and the members of the DOD workforce. These include transitioning military members to civilian work positions in the local economy, advising customers on the Communications-Compute- r Systems Professionalism award. She is one of five civilians to receive the award Air Forcewide. Zimmerman, a computer engineer, said it was quite a thrill to receive an award from a four-sta-r general. She worked long and hard to become a contender, according to her nomination package. Some of her accomplishments are listed below: D She designed, developed and implemented an integrated suite of radar and analysis tools to enhance post-fiel- d data analysis capabilities that enable engineers and operators to assess radar performance and give immediate feedback in the field. D She manages the Air ForceFed in-fie- ld eral Aviation Administration's software analysis tool that performs quick analysis of 42 NORAD raPC-bas- dar sites so that ed processing deficiencies and radar detection identification is significantly faster. D She represented the U.S. government at the EuroControl (Europe's air traffic control agency) software technical exchange meeting held in France. She designed a local area network that supports 160 squadron users and has now, potential to accommodate an additional 100 users. D She instructed 40 radar v.
