This week, 12 baby ducks went for a stroll during mom's absence. They ended up outside the America First Credit Union near the base exchange and were in grave danger of being really and truly flattened. An alert credit union customer managed to herd the ducklings into some nearby bushes just about the time the mother duck came running all in a flap. Problem: What to do? The base Pest Control Unit was called and they called Davis County Animal Control. After a prolonged, nervous wait on everyone's part (except for the babies), SSgt. Tom Guarino and TSgt. Norbert Soliday from the Pest Control Unit decided to try to put the ducks in a box and haul them over to the base duck pond behind the hospital. Moving gently, they first picked up mother duck and then put the babies in a box. The box was too little for mother duck so Guarino held her while they drove over to the pond. Soliday and Guarino thought they might have heard the duck equivalent of a spanking coming from the bushes at the other side of the pond. r TTo.ke Pride Ufrsalh) S(LD(S(SSs8 Last Hill turned out in to demonstrate PRIDE - PRIDE IN HILL AND PRIDE IN In conjunction with Governor E)iy nim 1 week, employees force UTAH. Leavitt's "Take Pride in Utah Day," Ogden Air Logistics Center commander, Maj. Gen. Lester L. Lyles, declared May 13 as "Take Pride in Hill AFB ' Day." Both days, Hill workers enthusiastically put on their "grubbies" and pitched in to rid the base and parts of Utah's recreation areas of trash and weeds. They painted, planted and generally spruced up their buildings all in all, a prideful effort. The Hill Ski Club volunteered to clean up along the Snowbasin road, and to maintain their interest in the job they kept track of some of the trash they picked up three golf balls, two sets of car keys, a pair of skis, a toy car, four full cans of beer, a binky, a Jeep bumper, Indian beads (i k Pride MloDD . .... and immediately upon release, mom shaped up the squadron and swam off at all deliberate speed babies in formation behind her.
