Show June 4, 1992 Renovation causes closure With the exception of the free weight and Nauti- lus rooms, the Hess Fitness Center will be closed Monday through June 18 for major renovation. The locker rooms will be closed for at least three weeks beginning Monday. Patrons are advised to remove their belongings from lockers prior to that date because there will be no access to locker and shower rooms during the renovation period. For access to the weight rooms, patrons will need to use the back door. The indoor pool will also be closed for an indefinite period. The outdoor pools will remain open. The purpose of the renovation is to install a ventilation system and air conditioning. Tinted or glazed window laws It is a violation of federal law if vehicle windows are tinted or glazed more than 30 percent, and drivers may be cited if their vehicle windows are less than 70 percent transparent, said a security police spokesman. Since it is a federal law, vehicles in every state must conform. Military personnel who move to Utah also need to know that Utah State law requires that window tinting or glazing materials for use in motor vehicles must conform to the American National Standard Safety Code for Safety Glazing Materials for Glazing Motor Vehicles Operating on Land Highways. Lt. Bardell R. Hamilton, Utah Highway Patrol, indicated that the law is enforced on Utah highways regardless of whether the operator of the motor vehicle is a Utah resident. Hamilton said that many states do not require their residents to conform to the federal standard for safety registration purposes, but Utah still has the authority to enforce the standard on Utah highways. Hamilton said that in some instances it is possi UNIQUE vehicle to be exempted from the state's window tint law.
