The customer service waiting room now includes a television, VCR and movies for individuals to enjoy while waiting for assistance. Maj. Deborah L. Davis, CBPO chief, says she and her staff have made several changes hoping to improve the quality of service CBPO provides. "Our customers were uncomfortable sitting in the customer service waiting room in the past because they felt they were being overlooked," she said. "We have alleviated this problem by placing our business iSounter in the waiting room where customers can be assured that they will be helped." Adding a personal touch to the daily business routine has earned Hill's CBPO the national Gerrit D. Foster Jr. Outstanding Achievement Award. Commonly referred to as the Air Force Outstanding CBPO Award, the award was established to give Air Force-wid- e recognition to those CBPOs that have clearly been identified as outstanding performers. Hill's CBPO received the award for exceeding basic requirements and creating innovative approaches to enhance good customer service. Rather than moving data from one stack of paper to the next, data is keypunched directly into the system. Records and information become readily accesible on network for other CBPO offices around the country. Mail is also sent electronically, eliminating bulky paperwork and delivery time. ."Instead of maintaining two rooms full of records, we are now able to maintain information in a more efficient manner," Davis said. To meet the growing demands of the Air Force, Davis and 90 percent of the CBPO staff received quality training, an approach to management which fosters teamwork and customer satisfaction. "We are always interested in the customer's feedback and encourage people to leave suggestions and comments in our survey box," Davis said.
