" Pentagon spokesman Pete Williams said Secretary Cheney wasn't confirming any specific number, but added, "It's conceivable another 100,000 (U.S. - troops) will go." Mr, Williams said the secretary feels there will be a continuing flow of forces to the Gulf in the period immediately ahead. "He feels it's necessary to make certain that we have, the forces over there to deal with any con- . j i. ' ' tingency." .. v.. Mr. Williams said the eventual size of the U.S. deployment is going to depend on developments in that part of the world. While a further U.S. military build-u-p may be on the horizon, a rotation policy is now being worked so some of those units already in the Mideast can be brought home. "We do not expect people to have to go to Saudi Arabia and stay there indefinitely,". Secretary Cheney said. "We would like to establish a rotation policy, and I'm confident we'll work that out." The rotation policy will probably be done on a unit basis, and entire units, will be brought out after a certain period of time, Secretary Cheney said. "For planning purposes, we've been looking at approximately six months, although that's not final and definitive yet." U.S. Air Forte Photo. A . clean environment .
