A reenactment of Hill AFB's original groundbreaking ceremony will kick off the base's year-lon50th anniversary celebration. The reenactment will take place Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. in the park south of the Officers' Open Mess. All base workers are invited to attend the event. Maj. Gen. James W. Hopp, Ogden Air Logistics Center commander, will provide remarks, along with Dee livingood, president of the Ogden Chamber of Commerce, and Douglas Bischoff, deputy chief of staff for Utah Governor Norman Bangerter There were approximately 200 civic, government and other interested individuals who participated in the original groundbreaking on Jan. 12, 1940.
